Alan Shefman is currently the city councillor for Ward 5 in the City of Vaughan, Ontario, Canada.
Education
Born April 2 1949, Shefman grew up in Toronto, Ontario. He attended York University where he received a Bachelor of Arts, after which he went to Carleton University where he received a Master of Arts in Canadian studies, writing his thesis on United Empire Loyalists in Upper Canada.
Political career
In 2004, Shefman was elected to Vaughan City Council for Ward 5. He was elected to this position in a by-election following the resignation of Susan Kadis upon her election to the Canadian House of Commons.
Previously, from 2000 to 2004, he served as a school trustee of the York Region District School Board.
