Eep, sorry. Meant to get back to you earlier, but I got sidetracked.
Regarding the first question: I'm not sure, to be honest. I've seen it a few places myself, but never have been entirely sure how to get around it. If you click on "My Preferences", you have an option on the "Appearance" tab which allows you to choose a default setting for thumbnails. That ''might'' help.
Regarding the second question: You ''can'' use MLA guidelines; I've seen it done, though not frequently. Personally, I don't use it, because I think it looks a bit odd in context. But it's not wrong, in and of itself. ] explains some of the options available. I tend to use a modified MLA formatting; rather than putting the name and page number in parentheses, I write the footnote as if it were the MLA citation and stick the page numbers in at the end.
There isn't really one overarching standard; just so long as what you do looks good and gets the information across you should be fine. --<font face="Old English Text MT">]</font>]] 05:06, 18 March 2011 (UTC) |

Style problems etc.
That might help.
Regarding the second question: You can use MLA guidelines; I've seen it done, though not frequently. Personally, I don't use it, because I think it looks a bit odd in context. But it's not wrong, in and of itself. Misplaced Pages:Citing sources explains some of the options available. I tend to use a modified MLA formatting; rather than putting the name and page number in parentheses, I write the footnote as if it were the MLA citation and stick the page numbers in at the end.
