Debela is a village and port on the right bank of the Danube in the region of Baranja, Croatia, 25 km northeast of Osijek. Its elevation is 105 m. The chief occupation is farming. Administratively, it is located in the Draž municipality within the Osijek-Baranja County.
Geography
Debela is located on the main road (M 17.1) Osijek-Debela-Bezdan. In 1974 the road bridge over the Danube was built. It is a state border crossing.
Features
The recreational and bathing resort "Zeleni Otok" (Green Island) offers a number of opportunities in the warm part of the year, especially water sports. It is also the centre of the Baranja Art Colony.
History
A continuity of settlement from the Middle Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age has been discovered on the Gradac hill.
