In this episode, the Dominion surrenders and the war ends. Bashir and Dax finally acknowledge their feelings for each other and begin a relationship. Worf is made ambassador to the Klingon Empire. Odo returns to the Great Link and cures his people of the changling disease. O'Brien tells Bashir that he has accepted a job as engineering Teacher in Starfleet Academy on earth. Kai Winn and Dukat go to Bajor to summon the Pa Wraiths, but Sisko arrives in time to stop them. In the process, however, both Kai Winn and Dukat die, and Sisko is transported to the Celestial Temple (the wormhole), and cannot return to DS9. (This is referred to as his "''ascension'' to the celestial temple".) The episode ends with each character remembering his/her experiences and friendships aboard the station. What You Leave Behind is the final episode of the television show Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Much of the episode is set on Cardassia Prime, the home world of the Cardassians and the headquarters of the Dominion in the Alpha Quadrant. Starfleet and other powers joined together to launch an attack on the Dominion on Cardassia Prime.
