Betsy Bloomingdale (born August 2, 1926 in Southern California; some sources indicate she was born in 1922) is an internationally known socialite and the author of a book of entertaining. She is best known as a friend of Nancy and Ronald Reagan, and for her marriage to Alfred S. Bloomingdale.
Mrs. Bloomingdale is a Roman Catholic and her husband, Alfred, converted to her religion, but that did not stop a great scandal from befalling their marriage regarding his extramarital affair.
She was involved in fundraising projects for the Los Angeles Cathedral. Bloomingdale's life marriage and her husband's scandal were the basis of the Dominick Dunne novel, Italic textAn Inconvenient Woman.
