Astrologers consider individuals born under fixed signs to be strong-willed in both thoughts and actions.{{cn}}
They are considered passionate and piercing, sometimes seeming quiet, shy, and secretive to others. Scorpio people are often very good at seeing the good and bad points in other people. They are not afraid to try things other people are frightened of, if these things will help them to learn more about themselves. Scorpio children are often much wiser and more understanding than other children, so they should always be given reasons when they are told to do something. Scorpio's special gifts are their insight and sensitivity, and their strength of will, with which can achieve anything in life. <ref>by Liz Greene, 1977</ref>

==Symbols==
Through history and various cultures the Scorpio sign has also been represented by a variety of symbols, including the eagle, the serpent, the lizard, the phoenix, and even the dove. All of these symbols represent different levels of the Scorpio's complicated personality. Scorpio has been represented by a variety of symbols, including the eagle, the serpent, the lizard, the phoenix, and even the dove.

There are mainly 3 known kinds of Scorpio personalities: The Killer Eagle, The Sinister Snake, The Grey Lizard. The difference between the 3 has to do with the way they deal with others when they get offended. Scorpio people never forget a gift or a kindness, and it's richly rewarded but they also remember an injury or an injustice but their reactions are different based on their level .
The eagle Scorpio personality will crush his enemy so the enemy learns never to hurt him again. The deadly nocturnal scorpion personality will first sting, then plan destruction, then sting again. The grey lizard Scorpio personality which forceful courage twists itself around, and instead of seeking the ruthless revenge of the stinger scorpions-or rising above such bitterness like the eagles-they bitterly withdraw in tangled hatreds at each minor injury, hoping fate will punish their enemies, almost unconsciously willing destruction without a direct action.
A scorpion can be an outstanding detective, the composer of great musical works, literature of depth and permanence, or the actor who projects with unusual dramatic intensity. Sometimes he lives alone, near the sea, as strong and as silent as the tides. Sometimes he faces the public, wearing a mask of calm reserve and control, to hide his intense desire to win. He can be a politician or a television star, an undertaker or a bartender, but he'll manage to top all his competitors. And he'll do it so effortlessly it will seem like an act of fate rather than his own powerful will. <ref>Linda Goodman's Sun Signs- the Scorpion, Eagle or Gray Lizard</ref>

Scorpio () is the eighth astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Scorpius. Scorpio is considered a masculine, negative (introverted) sign by most modern astrologers. It is also considered a water sign and one of the four fixed signs. Under the tropical zodiac, Scorpio is occupied by the Sun from October 23 to November 22.

Characteristics

Scorpio is a fixed sign like Taurus, Leo and Aquarius.

Astrologers consider individuals born under fixed signs to be strong-willed in both thoughts and actions.

Symbols

Scorpio has been represented by a variety of symbols, including the eagle, the serpent, the lizard, the phoenix, and even the dove.

Compatibilities

In Synastry, the natives of Scorpio are generally considered to be most compatible with the natives of the other water signs, Cancer and Pisces. . However, compatibility based on sun-sign alone is considered to be only a very general guideline.

Mythology

Various myths relate to Scorpio.

In Egyptian mythology, the goddess Serket was originally the deification of the scorpion. In art, Serket was shown as a scorpion, or as a woman with a scorpion on her head.

Scorpion men are featured in several Akkadian myths, including the Enûma Elish and the Babylonian version of the Epic of Gilgamesh. They were also known as aqrabuamelu or girtablilu. They were first created by Tiamat in order to wage war against the younger gods for the betrayal of her mate Apsu. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, they stand guard outside the gates of the sun god Shamash at the mountains of Mashu. These give entrance to Kurnugi, the land of darkness. The scorpion men open the doors for Shamash as he travels out each day, and close the doors after him when he returns to the underworld at night. They also warn travellers of the danger that lies beyond their post. Their heads touch the sky, their "terror is awesome" and their "glance is death". This meeting of Gilgamesh, on his way to Ūta-napišti, with the Scorpion-folk guarding the entrance to the tunnel is described in Iškār Gilgāmeš, tablet IX, lines 47-81.

According to Greek mythology the giant hunter Orion and the Goddess Artemis held a competition to test their hunting prowess, following Orion's boast that he could single-handedly kill every animal on Earth. Artemis used her deadly scorpion to prove him wrong, and as thanks, Artemis turned the scorpion into a constellation.
