Davie Dodds is a Scottish former professional footballer.
He was born in Dundee.
During his playing career, he scored over 100 league goals, and earned 3 scotland caps.
His first club was Dundee united, whom he signed for as a 13 year old. He truned professional in 1974, with Dundee United, and stayed with them for 12 years.
In 1986, Dodds left Dundee United for Nauchatel Xamax during the close season. He didn't stay long with Xamax, returning to Scotland in September the same year when Alex Ferguson signed him for Aberdeen. He played on with Aberdeen FC until 1989, when he signed for Rangers FC. He played on for a further 3 years, before being asked to change roles, and become a reserve team coach at Rangers. When Walter Smith became manger, Dodds was asked to become a first team coach, a position he held for 5 years, before leaving in 1997.
