So, I got rid of the YouTube links, even though I fail to see how referencing a video interview by linking to the video interview isn't "reliable." Also, I've used as many if not more credible references than many accepted podcast pages, but can't see how the one I created is somehow unacceptable, particularly by comparison. For instance...

http://en.wikipedia.org/Film_Sack

They use four references, all of which internal.

I hope I don't sound bitter in tone because I would honestly like help on this article/page. I am particularly confused by what appears to be inconsistency in accept/reject decisions, and I don't know what I am doing "wrong." Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I received a message saying the article I created for Paul Bojack was not accepted.

However, Paul Bojack is notable because under your guidlines for Creative Professional -- 4 c) "the person's work has won significant critical attention".
Mr Bojack's work has received strong reviews in major publications such as The New York Times, Variety, LA Weekly, Film Threat. This is significant critical attention -- The New York Times is the most famous newspaper in the world. Variety is the most important trade publication for movies and entertainment.
In addition, the article includes references / links to these publications and reviews. These are reliable, independent publiched sources.

In other words, the notabilty and significance of the person is established (Mr. Bojack's work has won significant critical attention) and this notablity is supported by independent sources (the actual reviews from The New York Times, Variety etc). <small><span class="autosigned">— Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 04:43, 16 February 2012 (UTC)</span></small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

I don't understand the resistance behind allowing awesome open source software projects described on Misplaced Pages. Given the arguments against this article I could as well put down the Mediawiki info. Can the awesomeness of FOSS projects be judged by experts in open source/software development? Requiring FOSS to be published in international magazines not by authors/contributors instead of technical evaluation of the features/completeness/popularity and scope first is kind of very-very strange. <small><span class="autosigned">— Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 08:02, 16 February 2012 (UTC)</span></small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

Morning. I need some help with the above article. The Association (UKHKA), to which this article refers, used to be called the British Hand Knitting Confederation (BHKC). There is already a Wiki for the British Hand Knitting Association but this should be changed due to the name change. So I'm trying to generate a new article under the current name of the association without much luck.

I initially generated the article in much the same format as the original but with a bit of additional information from the UKHKA website. That was rejected for not having any citations. The original BHKC doesn't have any either so I assume the rules have changed since that was put on.

So I added some citations but now it's been rejected because it 'reads more like an advert' and also that there should be citations from independent, etc sources and "not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed"

Geez, I thought this would be so easy for my first dabble at Wiki!

So, I need a little help.

With regards to it 'reading like an advert', I'm a bit stumped with this but I'll go back over the text anyway. Not sure which bits are like an advert but I'll re-write in a different style in any case.

But I am a bit stumped with the citations and the "materials produced by the creator of the subject". I hunted around on the internet and found various articles that other organisations had written about the Assoc - universities, the Guardian, etc - mainly about the Awards that the association runs each year. So these aren't 'materials produced by the creator of the subject' but articles written by organisations about the awards, etc. So I'm a bit stumped as to what is needed here.

Thankyou for any assistance you can provide :-)

] (]) 10:31, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
:Alright, I've actually just moved British Hand Knitting Confederation to ], so now you can just work on it there instead of using Articles for Creation. :) There's no reason to have two articles on the same company. As you mention though, it doesn't have any sources so the odds that someone would nominate it for deletion go up dramatically. Now, I glanced though the sources used in your submission, and none of them really stand out. :( Yes, most of them talked about what the association was ''doing'', but that doesn't really help you if they don't talk about the association ''itself''. There's a big difference here - ], and I don't see that here. ] ]·] 15:49, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

This is a pathetic excuse for not releasing an article...

"The proposed article does not have sufficient content to require an article of its own, but it could be merged into the existing article at Spectre R42. Since anyone can edit Misplaced Pages, you are welcome to add that information yourself. Thank you."

Need more information about what is "Sufficient" content for an article.

i followed the instructions on the page that stated: "When the submission is ready to be re-submitted, click here and press the Save page button to request a new review". i clicked on "click here" and the page that displayed did not show the edits i had made.

it displayed only the text below:

I believe there is sufficient content for this page to require an article of its own. The pages for The E.L.F.'s EPs were approved (with less content), yet the musicians debut album (with more content) has been rejected. Judging by the content of their profile page, I believe the reviewer has a strong bias opinion of certain music and therefore shouldn't be reviewing this article. Misplaced Pages-

I recently submitted an article for Wiki that was rejected due to its lack of importance or significance of the subject. I would argue that racquetball, cricket and other similar sports are not significant nor do they affect human life in a way that it must be a staple of life or worthy of being included in Wiki. On a side not, I do not have any published works to reference etc... because it was a game recently invented. So there is not literature or research on the sport. But my family and I are gathering a small following that could end up as big as racquetball, handball or other similar games. I submitted this article because I am trying to get the word out to the American population and others because the more people that start playing, the more notoriety it will get. Then, I will be able to site works etc... See where I am going? I am not sure when the racquetball article was submitted and approved but the game has been around for many years and probably only recently was an article approved. I ask that you please accept this article so that I may gather a following and make this sport a good one. My brother submitted an article in our local newspaper. Would that help to achieve a successful submission?

Hi,

thank you for the feedback.

The reviewer wrote:

"should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. "

none of 5 references given is related in any way to myself. all these 5 are independent references. how many references are required for such a short article? What are specific changes required? It would be useful to have some specific points, applied specifically to the article written, rather than general comments on the basis of which 50% of articles in Misplaced Pages can be declined.

I look very much forward to further details on this.

Hi, I don't know what to do about the reviewer suggestions.

Léo Ferré is one of the greatest French singer-songwriters of all times, it seemed worthy to mo to create an article about a piece of his work (the last one), as you do for every other great musician.

Furthermore, Arthur Rimbaud is not an obscure poet. To get "the importance or significance of the subject", you can check the Arthur Rimbaud's page or the Une saison en enfer one.
As[REDACTED] shows, this poet influenced moderns singers-songwriters like Bob Dylan or Patti Smith. So it is interesting in an encyclopedia to show what kind of influence he allthough had on a natural French-spoken artist.
Is there something more to say?

And actually I gave a published source "reliable and independent" (is it because it's in French that it is not ok?).
So, what can we do?

Thank you for your help. <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">— Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 22:25, 19 February 2012 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:Unsigned IP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

I would like to ask why the reviewer is declining this article all the time. The subject/person is a notable musician, producer and tv personality for obvious reasons. The sources and published material about him are independent and reliable and his article in the german Misplaced Pages ( http://de.wikipedia.org/Darius_Rafat) is online for many years. :Alright...just looking through your sources...they are definitely not independent and reliable. You've got multiple primary sources, plus a press release and other that don't really discuss Rafat in any detail. I'm sorry, but you really don't have a single source that really stands out. :( ] ]·] 17:05, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi There, i received your answer. Thanks for that, but I would kindly ask you to check again on the sources and weblinks as they are definitely showing independent and reliable publications about the subject and discussing the person explicitly. However, we added 2 more independent published sources as marked. Maybe its not quite clear for you as most of it is in german language. For example IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base), the german , Aids Gala (this one especially, a whole independent article) Article are all independent publications about the person. Additional to that his work references are more of a proof and a reliable source of his work in international music business. It would be great if you can go through it once again and then accept it. Once again, the german Misplaced Pages Article (http://de.wikipedia.org/Darius_Rafat) was also accepted and published already years ago. Looking forward hearing from you. <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">— Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 12:11, 17 February 2012 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:Unsigned IP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
{{od}} Very well, I shall go through each one and explain them all. You currently have eight references and six external links, after I took out the duplicates.
* is a ]. It's probably reliable, as far at that goes, but since it is directly affiliated with Rafat is doesn't help to establish notability.
* is also decently reliable, but there is absolutely no ] of Rafat. He is one name on a credit list, and that's all.
* is an e-card. Yes, it has his name, and even a short bio, but that is not what we want to see as far as reliable sources go.
* is a press release, and hence not ].
* is from a venue he played at. Again, not independent.
* has less then one sentence on Rafat.
* appears to be a blog.
* is another press release.

I'll briefly run through the external links. ] is user-submitted, and not considered reliable here on WP. The next two are just lists, with his name on them. The next two had one sentence or less on Rafat, and on the last (which might be another press release) I hit a paywall. Now do you understand what I meant when I said that none of your sources really stood out? I'm sorry, but that's still the case. ''Please'' read ] (it's ''extremely short'') - can you find any sources that would fit that bill? ] ]·] 20:20, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi, we just read your answer and we really all have to disagree with you. You have so many different sources and proofs now, why are you making it so complicated? come on... And your interpretations about Wikipedias WK VRS list is quite arguable.
Why are press releases from different typs of entertainment biz writers or music journalists not independent? IMDB is not only user-based, but is used by all major film, tv and media productions itself who list their cast and crew on the Internet Movie Data Base. You can not get into IMDB if its not reliable or if the topic which is listed hasn't been actually on air or published! Its not working like that. So, we really are interested what you would like to see as a source that "stands out" more?? Why is the official list of composers in Germany not reliable and independent? Why is all the information you have got in front of you from different tv shows, music productions, Producing credits, songwriting credits, press releases and your own accepted german Misplaced Pages article etc not reliable?? So, that makes no sense, right? And again, why is our subject/ person we are trying on now for the 7th time now already accepted and published in[REDACTED] the german version?? Could you please comment on that and explain what exactly your problem is......Thanks in advance <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">— Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 22:51, 17 February 2012 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:Unsigned IP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

:Okay, so...
#Firstly, if you have a problem with ], go onto its talk page, not here.
#As far as I can see, the press releases are from venues, companies, or representatives connected with him.
#Actually, IMDB is largely user-submitted, thus we do not know if it is a ]. (It would be like citing Misplaced Pages itself as a source and calling it reliable)
#Something that stands out would be an article or review from a completely ] (meaning no venues he's been at, or Fat Music London, or his representatives) ] (meaning no IMDB, Misplaced Pages, blogs, etc.). Stuff that could be in this category would be newspapers, magazines, web aggregrates (reliable ones), and so on.
#Credits are not a source showing ], press releases are not ].
#English Misplaced Pages is a separate project from German Misplaced Pages. Frankly, we don't care too much about what they do there.
#The problem is the sourcing, as has been detailed by Nolelover and me. <font color="green">]</font> (] * ]) 23:34, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
:::Let me try to be as clear and un-complicated as possible. ] For one reason or another, none of your sources fulfill those criteria. Other then that, A412 nails it, and I can back up his statement that the German Misplaced Pages doesn't matter here. If they have an article, great. That doesn't require us to have one here. Furthermore, if you can't understand how a press release is not independent, or what "''significant'' coverage" means, then I really don't think we can help you. ] ]·] 01:20, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Well, wow!

we don't have a problem with WP:VRS, the thing is though that we clearly fulfill your criteria. Very simple.

Do you really think saying "Frankly, we don't care too much about what they do there" speaks very well for someone is who working at a free, open-minded and international Enclyclopedic Organisation who is run through donations? Are you serious?

Obviously your own opinion about how to see or interpret things is more important than the simple fact of published and proven material which is out in the WWW for everybody to see. EVEN IN YOUR OWN WEBSITE! Its not about you or how you see things but what actually is true and reliable. Its about whats notable and interesting for the public. If you don't believe or it still isnt clear to you yet then take a minute and google the name and subject we are trying to get an english version for. What about that?

Regarding your point 4: The press releases are exactly what you are asking us for: there are totally independent, because its clearly NOT generated either by the business or organization it is written about, or by a business or person hired by or affiliated with the organization. (nobody knows the writers or journalists), they were written and published independently because of the various happening tv shows, performances, involvements in music etc. They were written and published because our subject/ person is a known entertainment figure and was the host and producer of the shows we are citing or the composer of the biggest saturday night show in europe viewed by 10 million people. What is so difficult to understand about it and why isn't it independent to you? That still makes no sense.

The thing is: we are talking about an international music producer with a proven track record all over, who is widely responsible for a lot of famous artists to make money and to find alternative revenue streams in this difficult times of music business with unpaid downloads, copyright fraud etc through his companies brand entertainment and partnerships deals and you still are making our Article dependent on what you think is not quite fulfilling in some format.

Well, if the written above doesn't bother you we think it would be only fair if you show this article, our sources, references and our dialogs to your head of staff and to at least 5 of your collegues where at least one of them knows german language and can really check and see the reliability to get a independent and proper feedback from more then just yourself or one more colleague.

Looking forward <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">— Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 10:33, 18 February 2012 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:Unsigned IP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

:Hi. I was asked by Nolelover to give a second opinion, and I have to say I agree with those who have attempted to address this issue here. It's nothing to do with whether individual editors have any sympathy for your cause—they're just following established guidelines that have been established through ]. We require independent sources for articles, because without them, Misplaced Pages risks becoming a directory for every person trying to get a publicity boost. Open up Misplaced Pages, and instead of some informative piece about the ], you'd instead see hundreds of articles providing "information" about "up-and-coming" businesses and artists. That's not what we're here to do.
:To address your point, press releases are not independent—of the two you cited, one is published by a PR agency and the other by the label who published Rafat's albums. Both are in some way ''connected to Rafat'', so neither is independent. Furthermore, Misplaced Pages is ''not reliable''. Anyone can edit Misplaced Pages articles, so they are not evidence of notability. You argue that Darius Rafat is an established and notable producer. To show that, you need to give us independent sources—we can't just rely on your word for it.
:Basically, if you can find significant coverage in multiple sources that are unambiguously independent and reliable—newspaper articles and articles in music magazines are where people commonly look (I tried looking on Google and couldn't find much), then there would be no problem with using those sources to write an article. But what you have right now simply isn't enough, sorry. ] (]) 16:20, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
::Thanks wctaiwan. 176, I'm sorry you feel as you do. Seriously, I am. I've been trying to give you the best advice I can, because I ''do'' think that you have the foundation of a good article here. I am sad and frustrated because yet another Misplaced Pages reviewer appears to believe Sam Hanna Bell is not noteworthy even though I've provided referenced evidence from reliable published third parties that a 'blue plaque' was erected at the house where he wrote his masterpiece, they guy was awarded an MBE by the British govt and his work has received multiple plaudits and been made into a film. For goodness' sake.

I've put valuable time into trying to improve Misplaced Pages by seeing this gap and drafting this article but now I am nearly ready to drop it. It would be wasting everybody's time to keep robotically resubmitting this in hope of finding an intelligent reviewer. Is there no appeals process? Please help.

== Review of ] ==

Hello,
My article for the band Blood Ceremony has been rejected twice because I've failed to establish their notability, but I believe I have shown that the band meets at least three of Misplaced Pages's notability criteria:

1.Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself.
This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries except for the following:
Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about themselves, and all advertising that mentions the musician or ensemble, including manufacturers' advertising.
Works comprising merely trivial coverage, such as articles that simply report performance dates, release information or track listings, or the publications of contact and booking details in directories.
Articles in a school or university newspaper (or similar) would generally be considered trivial but should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

- I have provided at least two articles from online publications that are independent and reliable (The Quietist and The Torontoist).

5.Has released two or more albums on a major label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are notable).

- The band has released two albums on Metal Blade Records, one of the premiere labels in heavy metal for the past 25-30 years.

7.Has become one of the most prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city; note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Misplaced Pages standards, including verifiability.

- The Torontoist calls the band "Toronto's most original band"

In addition to these, I have shown that the band has toured extensively with two of the most influential bands in the subgenre of doom metal (Electric Wizard and Ghost), and has been reviewed and interviewed on reputable online magazines.

Please help me understand what I need to do to get the article to pass Misplaced Pages's requirements. Thank you.

Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Bone Fish Ltd

I'd like some help with the article I'm creating based on facts about Bone Fish Ltd. The reviewer says my articl sounds more like an advert - please could someone tell me which particular parts sound like promotional material. That would be very helpful.

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elliebee29 (talkcontribs) 11:40, 15 February 2012

Please read WP:REFB how to cite correctly. Now following a few examples which has to be cited:
"Bone Fish Ltd was the first ever white label dating platform provider available on the internet"
"The company maintains one of the strongest online affiliate programmes"
"has helped transform the dating sector into a multi-million-pound-a-year industry."
"Bone Fish Ltd offers 24 hour customer service" - which company isn't offering such a service?
The full "Methodology" section is somehow useless/advertising in my eyes...
The main problem is really that you don't added any inline references and that you included mostly press releases and directories and forums which are all primary sources or not reliable. Regards, mabdul 11:41, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Good Morning,

On the last request, it was denied do to lack of sources. I have spoke to a couple of reps in the "live chat help" and they said the sources were fine but the content was as advertisement. I have sense re-worded and took out a LOT of content. So, what is it needing now?

OK, let me explain the valid the newest decline reason:
Ref #1: primary source
Ref #2: a good ref (not really sure)
Ref #3: also a good ref (as it seems)
Ref #4: dead end
Ref #5: primary source
Ref #6: primary source
So far this isn't really enough: e.g. the full section 'The Knight Story' has a) only one ref and do this ref also support: "It began in a shop of a gunsmith known for miles around as a master craftsman, an inventor and a huntsman who had stalked the field for decades."? Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Linux DM Multipath

I need help understanding what it is I'm lacking concerning references in my submission. I was dinged for "Lacks independent references" and "WP:NOTMANUAL", and have since added more references and taken out content that might be construed as a manual, and yet on my second submission the reviewer stated "Issues not adequately addressed from last decline". Using other entries as a guide , I'm not sure what is lacking or is to much like a manual for my entry. If this material is not suitable for Misplaced Pages, would it be suitable for WikiBooks? If so, what steps I do I take to move it over to WikiBooks? I have started a page there, but can't figure out how to submit it to be reviewed. Here is that link -- http://en.wikibooks.org/User_talk:3itrekker. Thank you for your help. Need help understanding how to correct the article. I don't understand the objection of the reviewer

Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Pro-Vas_Occlusion

I have now recieved the same objection of "irrelevance" twice. I thought I had addressed the issues sufficiently for those who needed the relevance of effective contraception explained. However, the article was rejected again for irrelevance.

I hope that no one would argure that contraception is not a relevant topic. The specific relevance of this new approach to vasectomy is based on the fact that existing methods of vasectomy have been shown to be sub-optimal.

To me its obvious that the topic is of relevance... I just don't get why someone would think it isn't.

Please clarify what the reviewers are looking for from me and I will be happy to add the necessary content, etc. to resolve their concern.

Regards, Dave Kawika (talk)dbattlesKawika (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:25, 15 February 2012 (UTC).

It's not that the topic is irrelevant, but you're trying to prove the wrong thing here. That there is a need for "effective contraception" is not what you need to explain. Your first paragraph and five references really aren't needed - notability isn't achieved by showing that there's a problem, and that your product is the solution, but that the product has been covered in reliable source. In fact, your submission would actually benefit if you removed the "background" and much of the "Significance of Pro-Vas Occlusion" section just focused on the Pro-Vas technique. Misplaced Pages doesn't care if you have the greatest product out there, or the worst one as long as its covered by reliable, independent sources. That's why Someguy1221 made the comment he did. You've been focusing on why Pro-Vas Occlusion is needed. That's not relevant. Just show us that it has been covered in the media etc; that's relevance to us.
You've got some good sources in there, but you need more independent ones. Take this one for example. It's exactly what you need (discussion of the company/product)... except that it's a press release. Hope this helps a bit. Nolelover 19:50, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Terror Transmission

S666. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sinistar666 (talkcontribs) 00:29, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

So firstly all sources need to be reliable. These would be publications with editorial oversight. This doesn't seem like too big of a problem for the article right now. The major problem, however, is that the sources must be independent. (See WP:VRS) Most of these are internal references, which do not help establish notability. So, the sources boil down to the Bravewords article, which is not about Terror Transmission, but the track.
Essentially, the problem is that due to the lack of verifiable, reliable sources that are not trivial mentions, it does not fulfill notability criteria.
And frankly, I don't think Film Sack is a properly referenced article. I'm going to leave a message on talk there.A412 (Talk * C) 01:48, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Paul Bojack

Hello, I received a message saying the article I created for Paul Bojack was not accepted.

— Preceding unsigned comment added by SummerOlympic2012 (talkcontribs) 04:43, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Spyder (software)

I don't understand the resistance behind allowing awesome open source software projects described on Misplaced Pages. Given the arguments against this article I could as well put down the Mediawiki info. Can the awesomeness of FOSS projects be judged by experts in open source/software development? Requiring FOSS to be published in international magazines not by authors/contributors instead of technical evaluation of the features/completeness/popularity and scope first is kind of very-very strange. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Techtonik (talkcontribs) 08:02, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Okay..."International news" outlets was a bit of an exaggeration. The point is that notability is demonstrated by significant coverage in independent, reliable sources. Misplaced Pages and the spyderlib wiki are not reliable sources, because they are open projects, and neither are blogs. The review in Techworld is exactly what you need....but you only have one. Add more reviews of that type, and resubmit. Nolelover 15:24, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi! I need your help badly. Please, tell me how to add more info about a person? I'd like to add the birth day/month, country, citizenship etc.(I didn't find the template). What you are looking for is called an "infobox". We have many kinds, but you one for people is called {{infobox person}}. If you click that link and scroll down, you'll see the basic template with the blank parameters. Copy that to your article and fill in the parameters.
Thanks a lot!)) I've done necessary changes and hope this time everything will be OK)) Will you check it, please?))Lerysik (talk) 09:06, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/UK Hand Knitting Association

Pauliebee (talk) 10:31, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Alright, I've actually just moved British Hand Knitting Confederation to UK Hand Knitting Association, so now you can just work on it there instead of using Articles for Creation. :) There's no reason to have two articles on the same company. As you mention though, it doesn't have any sources so the odds that someone would nominate it for deletion go up dramatically. Now, I glanced though the sources used in your submission, and none of them really stand out. :( Yes, most of them talked about what the association was doing, but that doesn't really help you if they don't talk about the association itself. There's a big difference here - require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, and I don't see that here. Nolelover 15:49, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

In time people will see this article and update it themselves. It's kind of the point of having wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stew2000 (talkcontribs) 12:39, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

It's an updated prototype of an existing car and only one was built (except for the show model)? With only one source, I'm afraid I'd have to agree with the reviewer, unless you can find more sources about the R45. Nolelover 16:00, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

It's a very interesting problem.
To me, even though the R45 is an updated version it is different to the R42.
I could merge it into the R42's article. however it could possibly make more sense to create a new article called Spectre Cars Ltd which would highlight the history of the company and have a proper place for both the R42 and R45.

IMDB is not considered a reliable source as the content is user-generated. In order for the article to be properly sourced, and for the subject to demonstrate it meets the guidelines of notability it needs citations which are third-party, and independent of the subject. Have a look at Misplaced Pages:Identifying reliable sources. Preferably each fact in the article should be followed by an inline citation, see Misplaced Pages:Referencing for beginners. I would revise this article and details to form the article as "A List of Anti-Christian Quotes"?

1- How can the first IT company in iran in the tehran stock exchange with a market value of 20 million USD not be important

2- are business week, tehran stock exchange and tehran time not independent, not credible references! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.96.180.245 (talk) 17:03, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Yes, those are all reliable sources, but not they way used here. First, the Tehran Times is an advertisement. The stock exchange doesn't help establish notability (just because it has a listing doesn't make it notable, and the Business Week listing is in the same vein....it look like a directory listing, which again, doesn't establish notability. I'm not sure about the first one. The submission, however:
  1. Not an independent source. See WP:VRS
  2. This doesn't help show his notability. Notability is not inherited.
  3. Just because he is listed does not mean he is notable. See the guidelines on notability for academics.
  4. That is the Amazon listing for his book. How does this show his notability.
What would be better sources would be evidence that he fulfills one of the criteria at WP:GNG, WP:BIO, or WP:PROF. A412 (Talk * C) 00:01, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Plankton Icke and Tina Turner David City Limits

The only issue that was brought to my attention, was that the article couldn't be published due to lack of footnotes. This has since been rectified, so I'm not quite sure what the problem is. Can you please advise or assist? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ghostpatrol86 (talkcontribs) 07:30, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Generally, an album or other recording must have its own notability. This means it must be supported by independent sources as per the general notability guideline. The only source on the page is the bandcamp page, this is not an independent source and only verifies existence. See why notability is not inherited and the notability guidelines for albums. I have put merge requests onto the other two EP pages, as they are little more than track listings. A412 (Talk * C) 15:23, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Muro-ball

Sincerely,

Antonio Mazza — Preceding unsigned comment added by Giankai1994 (talkcontribs) 18:05, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

The problem is that one of the tenets of Misplaced Pages is verifiability. Without reliable, verifiable sources, the article cannot be accepted. This is required to show notability. If the sport does become popular and it is written about by secondary sources, feel free to resubmit. However, Misplaced Pages is not a primary source and thus cannot become an original publisher of information as it would qualify as original research. A412 (Talk * C) 18:23, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

none of 5 references given is related in any way to myself. all these 5 are independent references. how many references are required for such a short article? What are specific changes required? Is the company notable? We can only have articles on subjects are notable—that is, they meet the criteria explained at WP:VRS.
  • If the company is not notable, it is likely that even if you try to create an article, it'd very quickly be deleted. In this case, the best suggestion we can offer is usually to just work on other things for now.
  • If it is notable , you need to show us by citing multiple sources that are independent (not connected to the company) and reliable (newspaper / magazine articles, usually. Baidu Baike and Misplaced Pages are not reliable, because anyone can edit them).
If you need anything else, just ask. wctaiwan (talk) 12:18, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Une saison en enfer (album)

Thank you for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.224.28.42 (talk) 22:25, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
You may want to have a look at WP:NALBUMS regarding the notability of albums.  Notability in not inherited, the album by itself must be notable.  If the sources are reliable and independent and in French, there should not be a problem.  If they are not independent and reliable, the language does not matter.  :- ) DCS 23:03, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Well, you say that he influenced Dylan and Smith...that's great, but what about this album? Remember that just because an artist has an article doesn't mean that every one of their albums needs one, although they usually do. So what's important about this specific album? If you can explain that (and yes, more sources would definitely help) you'll have a much better shot at this being accepted. Nolelover 23:05, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

See WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Articles are not compared to each other for apparent noteworthiness; the issue here is one of sources cited. The Devon Soltendieck cites three reliable third party sources : the Toronto Star, the Edmonton Journal, and the Ottawa Citizen. Your submission cites only one such source, the Montreal Gazette, and it is not third-party in this case. CharlieEchoTango (contact) 00:37, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Pie

There is nothing wrong with this article in my view. This magazine is published in Chapters and this is a reference to the company. What is the issue specifically? — Preceding unsigned comment added by WM324AHI (talkcontribs) 02:02, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
Actually the article is not bad compared to many other.  I'm not sure what the reviewer found when they checked your references, but I found that one was a "Page Not Found", one was a blank page, and the third was a blog, which is not considered a reliable source.  The two bad links may be a simple fix, or maybe I have a problem.
Thanks for you efforts,  :- ) DCS 05:08, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Auslogics Disk Defrag

Hello, I wrote an article, which was declined by reviewer Bmusician. My message on Bmusician's talk page has been ignored since I posted it there on February 16, so I'm seeking help from other editors. Could someone please tell me how I can make my article better so it can be included in Misplaced Pages? Here is a link to my message on the reviewer's talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/User_talk:Bmusician#Declined_article_on_Auslogics_Disk_Defrag and this is where you can find my article: http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Auslogics_Disk_Defrag I thank you very much in advance for your response and any guidance you can give me. Sincerely, TaraSwimms (talk) 08:22, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Pending a technicality, although I'm planning on accepting. Thanks for your submission. :) Nolelover 16:13, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Darius Rafat

I would like to ask why the reviewer is declining this article all the time. The subject/person is a notable musician, producer and tv personality for obvious reasons. The sources and published material about him are independent and reliable and his article in the german Misplaced Pages ( http://de.wikipedia.org/Darius_Rafat) is online for many years. Looking forward hearing from you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.24.53.33 (talk) 10:43, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Alright...just looking through your sources...they are definitely not independent and reliable. You've got multiple primary sources, plus a press release and other that don't really discuss Rafat in any detail. The stuff in "weblinks" isn't much better...more press releases, reliable sources, and brief mentions. I'm sorry, but you really don't have a single source that really stands out. :( Nolelover 17:05, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

— Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.24.53.33 (talk) 12:11, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Very well, I shall go through each one and explain them all. You currently have eight references and six external links, after I took out the duplicates.
  • Ref #1 is a primary source. It's probably reliable, as far at that goes, but since it is directly affiliated with Rafat is doesn't help to establish notability.
  • Ref #2 is also decently reliable, but there is absolutely no significant detail of Rafat. He is one name on a credit list, and that's all.
  • Ref #3 is an e-card. Yes, it has his name, and even a short bio, but that is not what we want to see as far as reliable sources go.
  • Ref #4 is a press release, and hence not independent.
  • Ref #5 is from a venue he played at. Again, not independent.
  • Ref #6 has less then one sentence on Rafat.
  • Ref #7 appears to be a blog.
  • Ref #8 is another press release.

I'll briefly run through the external links. IMDb is user-submitted, and not considered reliable here on WP. The next two are just lists, with his name on them. The next two had one sentence or less on Rafat, and on the last (which might be another press release) I hit a paywall. Now do you understand what I meant when I said that none of your sources really stood out? I'm sorry, but that's still the case. Please read WP:VRS (it's extremely short) - can you find any sources that would fit that bill? Nolelover 20:20, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Could you please comment on that and explain what exactly your problem is......Thanks in advance — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.24.53.33 (talk) 22:51, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Okay, so...
  1. Firstly, if you have a problem with WP:VRS, go onto its talk page, not here.
  2. As far as I can see, the press releases are from venues, companies, or representatives connected with him.
  3. Actually, IMDB is largely user-submitted, thus we do not know if it is a reliable source. (It would be like citing Misplaced Pages itself as a source and calling it reliable)
  4. Something that stands out would be an article or review from a completely independent (meaning no venues he's been at, or Fat Music London, or his representatives) reliable source (meaning no IMDB, Misplaced Pages, blogs, etc.). Stuff that could be in this category would be newspapers, magazines, web aggregrates (reliable ones), and so on.
  5. Credits are not a source showing notability, press releases are not independent.
  6. English Misplaced Pages is a separate project from German Misplaced Pages. Frankly, we don't care too much about what they do there.
  7. The problem is the sourcing, as has been detailed by Nolelover and me. A412 (Talk * C) 23:34, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Let me try to be as clear and un-complicated as possible. Articles require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. For one reason or another, none of your sources fulfill those criteria. Other then that, A412 nails it, and I can back up his statement that the German Misplaced Pages doesn't matter here. If they have an article, great. That doesn't require us to have one here. Furthermore, if you can't understand how a press release is not independent, or what "significant coverage" means, then I really don't think we can help you. Nolelover 01:20, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Well, wow!

we don't have a problem with WP:VRS, the thing is though that we clearly fulfill your criteria.

Looking forward — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.24.53.33 (talk) 10:33, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I was asked by Nolelover to give a second opinion, and I have to say I agree with those who have attempted to address this issue here. It's nothing to do with whether individual editors have any sympathy for your cause—they're just following established guidelines that have been established through consensus. We require independent sources for articles, because without them, Misplaced Pages risks becoming a directory for every person trying to get a publicity boost. Open up Misplaced Pages, and instead of some informative piece about the Meermin slave mutiny, you'd instead see hundreds of articles providing "information" about "up-and-coming" businesses and artists. That's not what we're here to do.
To address your point, press releases are not independent—of the two you cited, one is published by a PR agency and the other by the label who published Rafat's albums. Both are in some way connected to Rafat, so neither is independent. Furthermore, Misplaced Pages is not reliable. Anyone can edit Misplaced Pages articles, so they are not evidence of notability. You argue that Darius Rafat is an established and notable producer. To show that, you need to give us independent sources—we can't just rely on your word for it.
Basically, if you can find significant coverage in multiple sources that are unambiguously independent and reliable—newspaper articles and articles in music magazines are where people commonly look (I tried looking on Google and couldn't find much), then there would be no problem with using those sources to write an article. But what you have right now simply isn't enough, sorry. wctaiwan (talk) 16:20, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks wctaiwan. 176, I'm sorry you feel as you do. Seriously, I am. I've been trying to give you the best advice I can, because I do think that you have the foundation of a good article here. Unfortunately, I know from experience that if this was created, it would almost certainly be deleted at WP:Articles for deletion. I can't go get five more editors to look at this, but if you would like to go and ask some yourself to come here and look at this, that would be fine. I don't have a "head of staff" - we're all volunteers. If there's anything else I can do, let me know. Nolelover 16:36, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm going to try and rewrite this article to end this argument. He might be notable, who knows? Anybody here at AFC read German, by the way?A412 (TalkC) 19:27, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Hey there, alright, we totally appreciate and respect your feedback. Well, let us find us some more (hopefully) reliable sources for you to sort this out and maybe we then can end this dialogue and all be happy about the new english Misplaced Pages version of the already existing german article. If the mentioned re-written version of you fits well and is suitable, thats fine with us, even better. Best regards.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.24.53.33 (talk) 00:17, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi there, we now saw that the article was re-structured and rewritten by you and to us it looks great. We are happy with it.

Regarding these 2 little requested citations for his marriage and residence and his work being featured in different countries, they are no independent sources for that as this confidential information by his management we have contact to. But it quite clear that the information is true as we know it for sure and his official contact address is London. We are not able to provide you with his marriage certificate, but this a fact as well.

So, we are now looking forward that our article is going to be accepted and to be published.

Best regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.24.53.33 (talk) 18:34, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi, we now saw that you again requested these citations:

to requested Citation 1: Regarding his stage debut at age ten, there is no published or written source about that. There is just one picture of it and we dont have access to it. That was 1987! We know it from his office. How can we give you a citations for that?

to requested citation 2: regarding the music exposure in different countries: Again, we can not provide you with the different broadcasters media plans for their On-Air performances. This is not public info, but reliable info from his office due to his various international clients.

to requested citation 3: Marriage and residence: How can we provide you with sources about that? We don't have them of course. We don't have his marriage certificate and residence card and why is this needed to be cited? How can you cite that somebody is married? Sometimes people marry totally private and unknown. But we know for sure that he is married and that he lives in London. Thats a fact. We found an entry in the residence registry of London, but we can not cite this and give out his private address to make it public due to privacy law.

So, we kindly ask you to take this for a word and and accept our article now.

Best regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.24.53.33 (talk) 09:29, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi again, ok we dropped the statements and corrected the article. We hope its fine now.

The citation request for the sponsorship topic is already included and cited in citation Nr.6, which was published independly in a renowned professional magazine for advertising and marketing so that should be fine now as well.

We are now finally looking forward to your approval.

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Rude Kid

I recently wrote an article for Musician and Producer Rude Kid who is only recently becoming known. The text I used for the article was text that appears on his official facebook fan page, and seems to be the only accessible text available at present. As he is a relatively new name, there isnt too much information on him and I am struggling to find references to include. There are a few at the included links but not much else. Are there ways of still being able to publish this article on Misplaced Pages without having much available for referencing?

I'm really sorry, but articles require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. This is extremely important, especially for biographies of living people (what we call WP:BLPs). Because of previous incidents, which you've probably heard of, we have to take these very seriously, and good sources are an absolute must. Nolelover 16:32, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

How do I stop the page being dumped because I have not had time to go over it again within a week? It seems a pity that all this work should be for nought Why do you not have a SAVE button on the page like other software? There is an entree paragraph which I want to improve upon but there is no edit button for this so how do amend this section?

Okay so-
  1. No, you do not to sign ~~~~ on articles to save. However, at the bottom of the page there is a "Save page" button to save contributions.
  2. It will not be deleted after a week. Misplaced Pages has no deadline.
  3. There is a save button. Below the edit box.
  4. The problem is, most of the article is currently copied from here. If this is yours, please read and follow WP:Donating copyrighted materials. If it is, it can be restored. If it is not, it is probably better to start over. A412 (TalkC) 22:05, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
To clarify, four tildes puts your signature (which for me is a red "Nolelover", a yellow "talk" and "contribs" and a datestamp). It doesn't affect whether the page saves at all. Your submission won't be deleted - the message is a bit confusing and I'm working with another editor right now to fix it. Nolelover 22:11, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Sam Hanna Bell

I am sad and frustrated because yet another Misplaced Pages reviewer appears to believe Sam Hanna Bell is not noteworthy even though I've provided referenced evidence from reliable published third parties that a 'blue plaque' was erected at the house where he wrote his masterpiece, they guy was awarded an MBE by the British govt and his work has received multiple plaudits and been made into a film. Review of Misplaced Pages:Articles for creation/Blood Ceremony (band)

Hello, My article for the band Blood Ceremony has been rejected twice because I've failed to establish their notability, but I believe I have shown that the band meets at least three of Misplaced Pages's notability criteria:

1.Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself. This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries except for the following: Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about themselves, and all advertising that mentions the musician or ensemble, including manufacturers' advertising.

Thank you.

Richard Ramirez

COULD YOU TELL ME WHY RICHARD RAMIREZ IS STILL ON DEATH ROW? HE EXHAUSTED HIS APPEALS IN 2006. WHAT IS THE HOLD UP? NO WONDER WE HAVE OVER POPULATED PRISONS. THEY KEEP THEM ALIVE AND WE AS TAX PAYERS PAY TO KEEP THEM THAT WAY. DISGUSTING!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.49.76.195 (talk) 03:20, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

Try asking at the reference desk instead. This help desk is for articles for creation. A412 (TalkC) 03:47, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

Note

There is a huge backlog at AfC. I'm just leaving a note here so the backlog can be cleared faster. --Bmusician 13:10, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

You should probably put this at the talk page instead. :) A412 (TalkC) 15:29, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
If we could clear AfC with a note, I would do it everyday. :- ) DCS 18:11, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

My article has not been approved... please can you tell me which section needs to be edited. Thank you very much — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juliahuiemartin (talkcontribs) 21:51, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

Articles require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Right now, there are no sources at all in your submission. Please add reliable, independent sources and resubmit. Nolelover 22:03, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

Someone has recently deleted a photo (Oliver_Publicity_Photo_2012a) that my company owns the copyright to. Please let me know what I need to do in order to have this photo added back to the Wiki Commons, and what I need to do in the future to avoid being incorrectly flagged

the reviewer of my article will not let me publish my article online. Even though i have writing and references? Do you know why my article won't be published? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shenstudent000035798 (talkcontribs) 00:03, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

What Nolelover said above:  :Articles require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.  Your sources are the subject.  :- ) DCS 00:14, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
