What You Leave Behind is the final episode of the television show Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Much of the episode is set on Cardassia Prime, the home world of the Cardassians and the headquarters of the Dominion in the Alpha Quadrant. Starfleet and other powers joined together to launch an attack on the Dominion on Cardassia Prime.
In this episode, the Dominion surrenders and the war ends. Julian Bashir and Ezri Dax finally acknowledge their feelings for each other and begin a relationship. Worf is made ambassador to the Klingon Empire. Odo returns to the Great Link and cures his people of the changeling disease. Miles O'Brien tells Bashir that he has accepted a job as engineering Teacher in Starfleet Academy on earth. Kai Winn and Gul Dukat go to Bajor to summon the Pah Wraiths, but Benjamin Sisko arrives in time to stop them. In the process, however, both Kai Winn and Dukat die, and Sisko is transported to the Celestial Temple (the wormhole), and cannot return to DS9. (This is referred to as his "ascension to the celestial temple".) The episode ends with each character remembering his/her experiences and friendships aboard the station.

Trivia
- Jadzia Dax was notably absent from the rembererances of the various crew members on board the station. This was because Terry Farrell, upset over an image of her being used earlier in the 7th season without permission refused to allow scenes with her to be shown in the final episode.
