Sandra Fluke is a 30 year old female law student at Georgetown University. who testified before a panel of House Democratic Party members, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the importance of insurance policies providing contraceptive coverage. She was a past president of the school’s Students for Reproductive Justice group.
On February 29th, 2012, Rush Limbaugh caused controversy by stating on his Radio show that:
What does it say about the college coed Susan Fluke , who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex.
He continued the following day and stated that Fluke Is "having so much sex, it's amazing she can still walk". The same show, he stated:
So, Ms. Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here's the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it, and I'll tell you what it is. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch
On March 2nd he claimed the Fluke has boyfriends "lined up around the block."
Limbaugh's remarks created a pubic reaction that caused a campaign to encourage Limbaugh's radio sponsors to stop advertising for him. As a result, Sleep Train, Select Comfort, Quicken Loans and the Cleveland Cavaliers pulled their advertisements from Rush Limbaugh's radio show. Also, President Obama called Fluke in support and the President of Georgetown described Limbaugh's comments "as misogynistic, vitriolic, and a misrepresentation of the position .
