Limbaugh's remarks aroused a public reaction, leading to the creation of a campaign to encourage Limbaugh's radio sponsors to stop advertising for him. Sandra Fluke (born 1981) is an American activist and law student at Georgetown University, who testified before a panel of House Democratic Party members, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the importance of insurance policies providing contraceptive coverage. She was a past president of the school’s Students for Reproductive Justice group.

Before going to Georgetown, she graduated from Cornell University and spent five years working for Sanctuary for Families, a New York-based nonprofit aiding victims of domestic violence. While at Georgetown, she worked on issues that involved domestic violence and human trafficking.

On February 16th 2012, Rep. ,Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, held a hearing on contraceptives mandates. Sandra Fluke was submitted as a witness by Democratic members, but Chairman Issa denied her tesitmony stating her name was submitted to late. This hearing was widely criticized for having no women witneses to speak on contraception issues.


On February 29, 2012, Rush Limbaugh caused controversy by stating on his Radio show that:

What does it say about the college coed Susan Fluke , who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex.

On March 1, 2012, Limbaugh continued the following day and stated that Fluke Is "having so much sex, it's amazing she can still walk". During the same show, he stated:

So, Ms. Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here's the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it, and I'll tell you what it is. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch
