First, I apologize for my initial edit on ] rather than here. I didn't notice the notice at the top of that page (I would recommend an ]). Feel free to move this to unite it with the previous discussion.<p>Thanks for adding <nowiki><pre></nowiki>. I tried other methods, and for me it's by far the best method of disabling categories. (If I understand how the bot finds pages to edit, it should only go to pages containing inappropriate active article categories, which my userspace pages never do.)<p>As for intentionally redlinked categories, I ''have'' seen various ones around, but I don't know how prevalent the practice is, and I think there's no need for the bot to make a special effort to deal with them. Users can always slap on an appropriate {{tl|bots}} to prevent future changes. ]&nbsp;<font color="blue">•</font>&nbsp;] 09:52, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
:I'll have to play around with the editnotice - thanks for the link!
:I usually run the bot by specifying a specific category. It's when I've tried to run the bot against all pages with {{tl|user sandbox}} or {{tl|userspace draft}} that has caused me problems, which I won't do again until I can figure out a resolution to the last issue posted on BattyBot's talk page.
:Thanks again! ] (]) 17:20, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

== your Jennifer O'Neill undo of another's revision to my deletion ==

Hi.... I recently discovered that "Soul DNA" was written by another Jennifer O'Neill with the same name ( was researching it to try to possibly buy it) anyway I discovered it was some psychic with the same name, so deleted it from her list of books AND I EXPLAINED THE REVISION, DELETION, but someone undid it and put it back anyway even after I explained it.... and then you CORRECTLY reverted that person's put back (you and I were both right ... but you were better perhaps in including an amazon reference, maybe i shud have) I wonder why people keep doing stuff like that .... it seems that they do changes just for the sake of doing changes .... kind of frustrating ...sometimes it is better to just leave well enough alone .... :I don't know why WikiDan61 reverted your edit with a summary of "Rv unexplained removal of information", since you provided an edit summary explaining why you removed the information. Maybe he was confused by the three test edits by 97.97.131.79? You may find that some people will give your edits more consideration when you edit under your username (instead of your IP address). Keep up the good work! ] (]) 16:51, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Invitation to events in June and July: bot, script, template, and Gadget makers wanted

I invite you to the yearly Berlin hackathon, 1-3 June. Registration is now open. If you need financial assistance or help with visa or hotel, then please register by May 1st and mention it in the registration form.

This is the premier event for the MediaWiki and Wikimedia technical community. We'll be hacking, designing, teaching, and socialising, primarily talking about ResourceLoader and Gadgets (extending functionality with JavaScript), the switch to Lua for templates, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Labs.

We want to bring 100-150 people together, including lots of people who have not attended such events before. User scripts, gadgets, API use, Toolserver, Wikimedia Labs, mobile, structured data, templates -- if you are into any of these things, we want you to come!

I also thought you might want to know about other upcoming events where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, how to best use the web API for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing.

Check out the the developers' days preceding Wikimania in July in Washington, DC and our other events.

Best wishes! - Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation's Volunteer Development Coordinator. Please reply on my talk page, here or at mediawiki.org. Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation Engineering Community Manager 05:00, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the personal invitation. While I believe I would enjoy these events and learn I great deal, I won't be able to take off from work to participate. Good luck with the events! GoingBatty (talk) 03:30, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

barnstar study

Hi there, I got your message on my talk page and wanted to let you know you were not part of my study. Also, thanks for bringing to my attention the Signpost article. There are some small inaccuracies in how it characterizes my study, but it is nice that the topic is getting more attention. Regards, Mike Restivo (talk) 13:43, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
