Revol, Inc. is a heavily youth-oriented specialty regional wireless carrier based in Independence, Ohio which uses an urban revolution-based marketing campaign to attract its clients. The service features unlimited domestic voice calling and unlimited text and picture messaging to other Revol customers as its strengths.
Much controversy surrounded the formation of Revol in 2005 since the company merely changed it's name from Northcoast PCS to Revol. The owners, managers and employees of the company stayed the same as did the company's shareholders and physical address. Many customers became outraged by this tactic and cancelled their service (Revol has one of the highest negative BBB scores in Ohio.) Revol maintains that it is a completely new company with no ties to Northcoast PCS and the fact that it's owners, employees, and address has stayed the same is merely a coincidence.
Currently, Revol has coverage in and around the cities of Indianapolis, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo and Youngstown, Ohio. As Revol is not a MVNO, it actually owns and operates its own tower system, through purchases of part of the Cricket network and its own holdings gained from Northcoast PCS (now defunct). Revol offers unlimited roaming on its own network for a fee, though currently roaming off-network is impossible.
Interestingly, while Revol is not a prepaid pay as you go (phone) cellular carrier, it does not send out bills, though they can be requested as a nominal charge.
