This is a list of winners of the Brownlow Medal awarded by the Australian Football League to the "best and fairest" player.
Winners
* Chris Grant polled the most votes but was ineligible due to suspension.
# Corey McKernan also polled 21 votes but was ineligible due to suspension.
Voting systems
1924-1930: One vote per game.
1931-present: Six votes per game: 3,2,1 (except 1976-77:12 votes per game:3,2,1 from each of two field umpires).
Note that from:
1924-1967 there were 18 rounds of the home and away season
1968-1969 there were 20 rounds of the home and away season
1970-present there are 22 rounds of the home and away season
