Philip Michael Lester, (born 30 January 1987) is a popular English youtube star from Rossendale England, United Kingdom. As of January 2013 he currently has over 570,000 subscribers.

Early and personal life

Lester was born in raised in Rossendale, England. Currently he lives with his best friend, another popular youtube star, Daniel Howell in London. He is known for being obsessed with lions, and therefore calls his fans "Phillions". He is the owner of an adorable plush lion named "Lion" which he usually has in the background of his videos. It is recognised amongst viewers.

He has appeared on TV numerous times including being on The Weakest Link, a Confused.com advert, the Jeremy Kyle audience and Blue Peter. He has also starred in a MySpace film called 'Faint Heart' after winning a competition whilst still a student at university.

Youtube

When Lester was around 19, he posted his first YouTube vlog. Since then he has posted almost 150 videos on his channel. He has almost 600,000 subscribers and over 50,000,000 video views. A famous quote from Phil is that "it's a good thing to be strange; normalness leads to sadness." Phil has become part of the famous "Fantastic Foursome" group of English YouTubers, which also includes Daniel Howell (aka Danisnotonfire), Chris Kendall (aka Crabstickz), and PJ Liguori (aka KickthePj).

Radio

The BBC announced that in 2013, Howell and Lester would present the Sunday night request show for BBC Radio 1. Howell and Lester had worked with the station occasionally before, making videos for the station's YouTube channel and two Christmas broadcasts but were given their own permanent show for 2013. The show is an all new interactive, audio-visual segment involving music videos made by viewers, challenges performed on air by the presenters and song requests from listeners
