WEAO Channel 49, is a PBS member station licensed to Akron, Ohio. It is operated from studio facilities in the Akron suburb of Kent, Ohio by Northeastern Educational Television of Ohio, which is a consortium of Akron University, Kent State University and Youngstown State University. The station covers most of the Cleveland metropolitan area.
WEAO's sister station is WNEO Channel 45 in Youngstown. It signed on in 1975, Although WNEO appears to be the originating station, that status is now held by WEAO. The stations are thus identified together as PBS 45 & 49.
WEAO's home of Channel 49 had been the home of Akron's WAKR-TV from 1953 until 1967. WAKR-TV moved to Channel 23, and is now WVPX.
