| An article meant to clarify or simplify the comprehension of a reality presupposes a healthy dose of basic knowledge on the part of the reader. What follows, accordingly, is the highly schematic, albeit non fictional suggestion that Primal Electromagnetic Fields gave being to Primal Matter, from which secondary material structures derive. On the same vein, it will be posited that Primal Energy is actually kinetic energy which is instantaneously supplied by Space to freed Primal Electromagnetic Fields of Matter quanta. The overarching role of Space will be specially stressed. | |||
| 1.- I start by proposing that an electron is the minimal amount of unstructured Matter, while structured Matter starts at the level of the elements called atoms, the simplest being hydrogen. Electrons are made of a large bunch of primal electromagnetic fields (PEMF). Each one of these fields is, therefore, a quantum of unstructured Matter. Since an electromagnetic field (EMF) refers to the association of an electric field surrounding a charged particle with the magnetic field resulting when such particle moves, the EMF is the partnership of both fields. I am hereby positing that the neologism PEMF qualifies a heretofore unknown Primal EMF as being the originator of Matter. Although one PEMF has no measurable mass as determined by a gravity field, it can be considered as being the minimal amount of mass existing, therefore joining motion in the generation of kinetic energy. Well-informed readers might prefer to find either intellectual comfort in a proposed mass-less “pure kinetic energy,” or else an heuristic stimulus in the posited Higgs Field that supposedly is synonymous with Space. | |||
| 2.- At the beginning of the Universe, protons also appeared, which are much more massive than electrons, and which schematically I will consider as fundamentally being composed of electrons and positrons, one of the latter being present in surplus. Single electrons and protons are mutually attracted, forming atoms of hydrogen, which are the only atoms not generated in stars, and actually being their creators. The proton’s surplus positron balances the electrical charge of the corresponding orbiting electron. | |||
| 3.- The third constituent of the Universe is Space, which is proposed as playing a vaster role than the one envisioned heretofore. | |||
| 4.- Certain stimuli acting on certain electrons of certain atoms cause one of the constituent PEMFs to exit the electron. Once thus isolated, it is submitted to a continuous repelling action exerted by Space, which forces the PEMF to move constantly in one direction. At such an instant, the PEMF has converted into a photon. Depending on the nature of the originating stimulus, photons will be propelled at different enormous speeds; however, Space limits their lineal progress to c, the speed of light. Consequently, PEMFs are forced to travel in a sinusoidal trail, therefore constituting waves, with their characteristic physical properties. The energy of each photon is precisely determined by its nonlinear speed, and each photon is a quantum of that Energy. Thus, Primal Energy is the kinetic energy of a PEMF that has exited an atom. The electromagnetic field of such PEMF contributes the primordial mass, while the constant propulsion by Space contributes the speed. | |||
| *To understand the logic for proposing Space as the source of the photons’ speed, it should be recalled that after being momentarily slowed while traversing a medium or by a strong magnetic field, photons resume their original speed. It is most mysterious that physicists have not been troubled by this mysterious and yet so telling property of photons. | |||
| *A new step further is positing that Space also supplies the PEMFs. If true, then Primordial Matter and Energy would be not so drastically apart, except that Matter and Energy are not “Interchangeable” as if they were two facets of the same coin. After all, most of the destructive effects of nuclear weapons result from the blast caused by the sudden –thus powerful-- expansion of the intensely heated atmospheric gases. This thermonuclear heat, being an effect of the photons’ kinetic (energy), would actually be provided by Space at the instant of the nuclear reaction. | |||

| 5.- When a photon hits an electron that can incorporate it, the kinetic energy of the photon will follow one of the following pathways: a) it is processed by the receiving electron into another photon of lower energy, b) it is transduced (i.e., converted into a different type of energy before it goes on) to its target electron, c) it is transferred to its target electron. In any of these cases, the PEMF returns to its nature of quantum of unstructured Matter, i.e., it forms part of the recipient electron. Once liberated from the parent PEMF, such primal photonic Energy becomes the freely available energy of the Newtonian world. It will manifest itself in the macro-kinetic and the various micro-kinetic responses of the different electrons. | |||
| 6.- When an electron and its antimatter, the positron, interact, they annihilate mutually, and two gamma rays are emitted. | Summary: Primal Electromagnetic Fields are the essence of mass: the quanta of unstructured Matter, basically electrons. Primal Energy is Kinesis transported by PEMFs as photons. Space is the source of these entities. | |||
