Elisabet Höglund (29 August 1944) in Gothenburg is a Swedish author, political journalist and former Swedish professional road bicycle racer. She was hired to work for SVT and later became a free lance journalist. Höglund is the daughter of Ernst Freddy Höglund and Karin Gustafsson.she competed in Let's Dance during 2009 on TV4 teaming up with professional dancer Tobias Karlsson. Höglund and Karlsson in the end placed fourth in the competition. At the side of her journalistic work Elisabet Höglund has been working as an artist and author.

Biography

Journalist

Höglund began her journlist career in 1970 in the local newspaper Väsgöta-demokraten in Borås. In 1977 Elisabet Höglund moved to Stockholm, where she started to work as a press ombudsman for LO. Between 1981 and 1983 she worked at Veckans Affärer as a workmarket reporter and was in 1983 hired by SVT also as a workmarket reporter. In 1987 she moved to Rapport where she worked as a economy reporter and political reporter until the summer of 1996 when she started her new job as a Europe correspondent for Rapport in Brussels. In 2000 Elisabet Höglund returned to Sweden and started her work at Rapport and Aktuellt again. During the years as Europe correspendent for Rapport she and her husband lived in Waterloo. Elisabet Höglund has also worked on other SVT shows such as Uppdrag granskning, Reportrarna och Studio 24.

During the summer of 2008 Höglund was as a Middle Eastern correspendent and was placed in Amman, after this Elisabet Höglund quit her job at SVT after working there for 25 years. And she started working as a freelance journalist.

During the summer of 2008 Elisabet Höglund work at Sveriges Radio and their stations P1 and P4 were she hosted shows like Ring P1 and she also hosted her own show "Elisabet Höglund möter..." on P4. During 2008 and 2009 Höglund also wrote articles for Expressen newspaper, and she is since 2009 writing a weekly segment at Aftonbladet newspaper.

During late 2009 and winter of 2010 Elisabet Höglund was as a television host for the TV4 show Förkväll. She was fired from the job by TV4 in the winter of 2010 for unspecified reasons.

Artist and author

At the side of her journalistic work Elisabet Höglund has been working as an artist and author. She has so far written four book and has been painting during most parts of her life. Two of the books are mainly for women and Elisbet Höglund is interested in genus and equality questions concerning women and men. She has stated however that she does not see herself as a feminist.

On 12 October 2010 she biography "En kvinna med det håret kan väl aldrig tas på allvar" was released the book tells about her childhood which she spent at an orphanage and she also suffered sever bullying at this place.

Elisabet Höglund has pained in oil since she was 12 years old and has had about 70 art exhibitions showing her work in Sweden amongst the places are Stockholm, Gothenburg Västerås, Landskrona, Tällberg and Kungsbacka.

Bicycle racer

Elisabet Höglund is a former Swedish professional road bicycle racer, she won gold at the Swedish championshops between 1971 and 1972.

Höglund cicled for IF Ymer in Borås for whom she won the Swedish championships in team cycling in 1971, 1972 and 1973. The two first years she won team gold medals along with Meeri Bodelid and Monica Bengtsson. In 1973 she won team gold models along with Marja-Leena Andersson and Solvej Carlsson.

Awards

Elisabet Höglund has during her journalistic career recieved a number of journalist awards and prizes. In 1986 she was awarded the prize of Sveriges bästa arbetsmarknadsreporter by the Swedish local council. In 1990 Elisabet Höglund was awarded the Rapport-redaktionens jubileumspris and in 2000 she was awarded the Föreningen Skogs- och Lantbruksjournalisters Stora Pris för sina engagerande reportage om djurvård, plågsamma djurtransporter och djurmisshandel award.

In November 2009 Elisabet Höglund was awarded the paper Resumés award Guldkrattan and in February 2010 Elisabet Höglund was named Årets Mappie 2009 by Amelia Adamos paper M–Magasin.

During 2010 Elisabet Höglund was also nominated for Best television personality of 2010 by Finest.se. this after she competed in Let's Dance during 2009 on TV4 teaming up with professional dancer Tobias Karlsson. Höglund and Karlsson in the end placed fourth in the competition.

Health

Höglund is also a cancer survivor having fought off cancer twice having survived two major cancer surgeries.
