Prism (stylized as PRISM) is upcoming fourth studio album by an American singer-songwriter Katy Perry. The album will be released on October 22, 2013 through Capitol Records.

Background

Work on Perry's fourth studio effort began in late 2012. Perry defined the music on the album as "darker" than her previous studio efforts. Diplo, Sia Furler, Max Martin, Dr. Luke, and Bonnie McKee have all been listed as collaborators with Perry for the album. McKee stated that the album was "more mature" than Perry's last albums. She stated "I think it's a little bit more grown up and it's really interesting. I'm really excited for the world to hear it because she's just... she's taking a new approach. It's definitely a little more mature than the 'California Gurls' of yesterday."

Promotion and release

The name and release date of the album were both announced via a large golden semi-truck on July 28, 2013. Perry announced via her Twitter account that the truck, which she dubbed as the "Prism semi," would be stopping in several large cities throughout the United States. Prism is scheduled to be released on October 22, 2013 as a digital download, as well as a physical copy.
