  Fake nomination.
Red numbers indicate nominations from Evictees

  • ^1 Shakti as captain was asked to appoint four names from the remaining housemates who would be Up for Nomination. As a result of being chosen Laxmi, Gulabo, Nihita and Pooja M. were exempt from nominating for this week, however, the remaining 9 housemates were allowed to cast their votes. Remaining housemates nominated Pooja M. and Nihita.
  • ^2 Housemates nominated Pooja M., Gulabo and Mandeep however, according to the power given to Shakti as captain, he was able to save a nominated housemate from eviction. Shakti chose Mandeep.
  • ^3 Pooja M. and Raageshwari were nominated by Bigg Boss as a punishment. Housemates were unable to cast their nominations against them. Mandeep as captain nominated Mahek directly placing her against public vote. Remaining housemates nominated Amar, Juhi and Shonali.
  • ^4 Shonali was safe as captain, Housemates were unable to cast their nominations against her. Shonali nominated Mahek directly placing her against public vote. Remaining housemates nominated Shakti, Shraddha and Pooja B.
  • ^5 Shonali was safe for another week as captain, Housemates were unable to cast their nominations against her. Shonali nominated Pooja M. directly placing her against public vote. Remaining housemates nominated Mahek, Mandeep and Amar
  • ^6 Shraddha was safe as captain and Siddharth was immune from nominations because Mandeep took his name when Bigg Boss asked her to save one housemate from eviction on Week 6 while she was leaving the house. Housemates were unable to cast their nominations against them. Shraddha nominated Akashdeep directly placing him against public vote. Remaining housemates nominated Pooja M., Mahek and Laxmi.
  • ^7 Akashdeep was safe as captain and Mahek was immune from nominations because Laxmi took her name when Bigg Boss asked her to save one housemate from eviction on Week 7 while she was leaving the house. Hence, they were immune from Nomination. Akashdeep, taking assistance from Siddharth nominated Shraddha, Pooja M., Vida and Shonali directly placing them against public vote.
  • ^8 Amar was safe as captain and nominated Pooja B. directly placing her against public vote. Akashdeep was nominated for eviction by the Bigg Boss as a result of losing the weekly task. Sunny was exempt from nomination. Remaining housemates nominated Mahek and Siddharth.
  • ^9 Mahek was made the captain after Pooja M. (the reigning captain was ejected) and, hence, was safe for nominations. She nominated Akashdeep directly placing him against public vote. Akashdeep, Siddharth and Amar were called in the confession room to decide two names to directly place against the public vote. The trio came up with Shraddha and Sunny.
  • ^10 Instead of nominating two housemates to place against the public vote, Bigg Boss asked the housemates to give two names whom they would save from eviction. Housemates saved Akashdeep and Sunny. Contrary to the result, the remaining housemates were put up for eviction.
  • ^11 Before leaving the Family/Friends of the housemates, who came for a short visit to meet their loved ones, were asked to nominate two names for eviction excluding Pooja M., Siddharth and Andrew. Hence, Amar and Shonali got nominated.
  • ^12 Captain's post was abolished by the Bigg Boss as punishment. Housemates nominated Amar, Siddharth, Juhi and Sunny. Voting lines were closed for the week, however, housemates were unaware of this. Mahek returned to the house via "Wildcard Voting Contest".
  • ^13 Housemates weren't asked to give names to nominate for eviction. Bigg Boss nominated all housemates to give each an equal chance to secure their position in the final week.
  • ^14 During the final week the public voted for who they wanted to win Bigg Boss, the housemates with the fewest votes were evicted on Day 98 (the finale) with the Winner revealed on the same night.

Controversies

  • Earlier, contestant Mandeep Bevli had asked Nihita Biswas whether she had sex with Charles Sobhraj. Nihita was sure of facing trouble in answering questions about her marriage, but she had not expected the quires about her sex life. Talking to reporters, Nihita said, "I am not used to such questions and they should have exercised some restraint." Nihita Biswas added, "But I must mention that Mandeep apologised later. She came up to me and said she shouldn't have asked me such a question on a public platform. She wasn't the kind of person I thought she was. She is, in fact, one of the nicest inside the house."
  • On Day 12, Pooja Misrra showed a clear sense of fury by kicking a dustbin and breaking kitchen stuff grabbing a lot of public attention. The alienated Pooja Misrra lost her temper on Shonali Nagrani. When Shonali provoked her further, asking, if she would "hit" her, Pooja hinted, she could get physical, if Shonali didn’t behave herself. "Get off my back," an irritated Pooja screamed in rage; her blood boiling with anger. What people saw in a trailer of the reality show, was a visibly furious Pooja, who has been cornered by most contestants on the show right from the beginning. All her attempts to make peace with the Housemates have more or less backfired, with them playing games and politics with the troubled soul. "Standing at crossroads with growing impatience, Pooja has been trying her best to keep her cool. But the scheming Housemates are not letting her live in harmony, assuming she is hogging mileage and footage," says public relations expert Dale Bhagwagar, who is a specialist with Bigg Boss hype and hoopla. "Unluckily, for all Housemates, the public has realized that Pooja is a there to provide most entertainment to the audiences in the house. Though the Housemates have been trying their best to ignore her, she has emerged an uncanny favourite with the cameras and the audiences alike," he adds. Pooja M. being saved in consecutive eviction by the audience has further proved how much popular she's got among the couple of weeks. Not to mention Bigg Boss audience have a history of liking the candidate who cause most controversies and disturbance in the house.
  • Siddharth Bhardwaj and Shonali Nagrani were seen romancing each other in Bigg Boss 5 house. Episode aired on 26 October 2011 of Bigg Boss 5 caught Siddharth consoling and hugging Shonali and kissing her hand. Shonali, on her part seemed to reciprocate his affection. When celebrity publicist Dale Bhagwagar was asked if the two were doing it for publicity and to increase TRP, Dale said that all of the Bigg Boss 5 contestants are aware that they are wearing mics and are surrounded by cameras 24x7. Dale Bhagawar added, "They have all gone on the show with personal agendas and roles to portray. They have all gone on it to play and win." Media and the audiences also considered this to be a vague TRP stunt. Later on the show, when Shonali was confronted by other housemates about romancing to Siddharth, she defended herself by saying that she thought that Sid flirts with most of the female housemates and she was just playing along.
  • During the show, Contestant Vida Samadzai accused Pooja Misrra of stealing her waist band. Misrra vehemently denied the accusation saying she had picked up the ornament by mistake thinking it to be hers. Misrra said she owned a similar one but Vida refused to believe her. The conversation turned into an ugly spat with house captain Shonali Nagrani called in to intervene. Vida, also, accused Misrra of calling her a Whore which she assumed after unclearly hearing Pooja M. say To the core. Sanjay Dutt, on the eviction night, warned Vida not to make such vague assumptions and hurl pointless accusations on others. After the incident Vida grew even more unpopular with the audience as media sidelined this issue boldly defending Pooja M. and calling her a victim of accusations inside the house.
  • Pooja Misrra became the most discussed and debated inmate of Bigg Boss. With every week being nominated for eviction and getting saved by huge margin of votes, the viewers have utterly shown how much Pooja M. is being supported by them. When Pooja was reviewed by the media on her peculiar stance in the house and inside the hearts of the audience, the conclusion that she is most probably the biggest entertainer of the series came erupting as a definite answer. Audience found her comments and gestures during fights hilarious and determined. Her comments like "Rani Hijrawati" to Laxmi, "Mihir Virani Saas Bahu ka baap" to Amar, "Twinkle twinkle poetry" to Pooja B. and "Love me for this, for this, or for this" accompanied by hip postures became famous among viewers and the source of her fan following. During the first two weeks Pooja M. was considered to be a victim of accusations inside the house but with every passing week audiences seem to like Pooja M. for her distinct personality as well. Prior to the events inside the house involving Pooja M. being bullied by housemates, Pooja's retaliation towards these acts has compelled the audience to accept Pooja as their favorite housemate saving her in every eviction by a huge margin of votes. Audiences' support was also seen on Bigg Boss official website where followers 'liked' Pooja's profile using their Facebook accounts making her the hottest housemate and, hence, making her win the poll.
  • On Week 7's eviction night "Aapka Farmaan", Salman Khan strictly warned Siddharth for his shameful behavior with Mahek Chahal and Pooja Misrra. Salman Khan asked Siddharth to have control over his tongue and actions. Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt severely criticized Siddharth’s foul language, character assassination and cheap actions behind Mahek and Pooja M. bringing him to tears. Even John Abraham asked Siddharth to take care of his behavior towards ladies inside the house. On hearing all these, Siddharth apologized and started crying on national television. Salman and Sanjay also questioned Akashdeep for not stopping Siddharth when he was displaying such disrespectful acts of manners.
  • On Day 55, Pooja Misrra exhibited an act of violence in retaliation towards Siddharth Bhardwaj's continuous instigation and protests against her regarding her becoming the new captain. After Midnight before going to bed Siddharth provoked Pooja M. to the limit that she pushed him with a slight shove. Following this, Siddharth went on in front of the cameras appealing to the Bigg Boss to eject Pooja otherwise he'll walk out of the competition by climbing the walls of the house. As a result, Bigg Boss ejected Pooja M. the very instance. After the news spread about Pooja's expulsion from the house before the show even aired within hours an immediate uproar from the audience came into existence. What Siddharth thought was a harmful physical assault, audience on the other hand, analyzed it as a mere push. Media and channel reporters gave their verdict on Bigg Boss being bias towards Pooja M. and accusing the show of deliberately getting rid of Pooja M. due to crew's favoritism towards the male contestants of the show. The disappointed audience began posting hate comments against the reality show claiming that they want Pooja M. back in the house with Siddharth evicted in place of her, otherwise, they'll boycott the show and raise protests against it. Viewers perception of the incident was sheer unfair judgement by the Bigg Boss accompanying the fact that they earlier witnessed similar injustice towards Pooja Misrra when Akashdeep Saighal breaking the captain's lounge bathroom door while Pooja Misrra was inside, when Amar scratched Pooja M.'s hand and she needed medical aid along with the display of ill-manners by Siddharth when he almost kicked Pooja M. while he was hurling improper names to her parents. Former contestants of this season of the show have expressed relief. Afghan beauty Vida Samadzai, who got evicted last week, says, "It is great. I am very happy that Pooja is out of the house. It was about time this happened. She is a mean person and a big drama queen." Samadzai however adds, "I hope she learns a lesson from this and becomes a better human being." Singer Raageshwari Loomba, who left the house a month earlier, says, "Though I don’t follow the show anymore, I know there have been negative attacks on her. Her behaviour in the house may be because of the unnatural setting of the show that drives a person to the edge. I only hope this helps her positively."
  • Sunny Leone managed to created much hype with her Bigg Boss stint, but her presence in the show did not go down well with The Indian Artistes and Actors Forum (IAAF), reports Headlines Today. IAAF requested I&B Minister Ambika Soni to take action against Colors for indirectly encouraging and promoting pornography in India via the introduction of an adult entertainer, as per the channel. According to a report published in a daily, Sunny Leone has become the most searched adult celebrity on web and it's becoming difficult to keep the children away from accessing her explicit videos and pictures. "As far as this particular complaint... I haven't heard about it... Of course these complaints come up from time to time over content issues of different channels across the television," Ambika Soni told Headlines Today. Apart from the accusations on her, Sunny became the most searched Indian celebrity on Google beating Bollywood sensations Katrina Kaif, Aishwariya Rai and Kareena Kapoor.
  • Many evicted housemates which include Pooja Bedi, Shraddha Sharma, Raageshwari, Shakti kapoor, Pooja Misrra and Vida Samadzai accused Salman Khan for favoring housemate Mahek Chahal for being partial towards her. Their claims were, later, rejected by the actor himself after Mahek got evicted on 11 December 2011, however, just two week before the finale, Mahek was deliberately made win a wild card entry poll against Laxmi Narayan and Shonali Nagrani who clearly did not have as much of a fan following as her, merely fourteen days after her initial eviction, which indeed confirmed all the allegations against her being Salman Khan's favorite candidate. This stint not only disappointed fans of the inmates inside the house who have been surviving evictions for many week but also certified partial judgments made towards specific housemates by the Bigg Boss.
  • Unlike the international versions of Big Brother, in Bigg Boss, the hosts are seen to be intimidating contestants on the show for their conduct and are often witnessed interfering in almost everything exhibiting a partial stance towards few. On the Opening of the season Salman and Sanjay ridiculed Shakti Kapoor after he entered the house saying, "Bigg Boss ko maanna padega! Shakti Kapoor jaise logon ko apne ghar bulaya, hum toh kabhi na bulayen!". Shakti was hurt by these remarks and demanded an apology from Salman, however, was never reached by either Khan or Dutt. Later, Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt also lashed out at Siddharth Bhardwaj for being too unmannerly with Mahek Chahal and Pooja Misrra and the same continued with other housemates few weeks later when Salman Khan went inside the house on 17 December 2011 and severely scolded contestants for their behaviour. Such traits showed by the hosts have yet been never witnessed on any international series of Big Brother. On 24 December 2011, Sanjay Dutt displayed infurious attitude towards Juhi Parmar, Akashdeep Saigal and Sunny Leone for bringing out a problem that concerned them regarding Amar Upadhyay's indecent moves on female housemates. Evicted housemate Pooja Bedi after watching the episode, in fury, claimed,"It's clear Salman went in there to demoralise, confuse, hurt and lie to Sky. Any guesses as to why he would misuse his position to do so? Salman previously had threatened Sid, and said, he would kick his arse. Hosts cannot intimidate contestants! Wrong. if contestants are bad, they get nominated and if public dislikes them, they get eliminated. That's reality TV, not hosts threatening, if Salman can get aggressive with contestants, why is he upset they do so with each other?" The hosts are also seen to be very manipulative throughout the season. From altering the results to controlling appearances of celebrities, all was witnessed to be formatted by co-host Salman Khan. Due to the remarks made by Pooja Bedi on Salman's interference with the results and favoritism towards Mahek Chahal, Pooja was banned from attending the season finale to be held on 7 January 2012. The actress was humiliated on this last minute change and expressed, "So what if I disagree with a host and don't like a contestant! Is that reason for Channel not to have me at finale?" Pooja Bedi further stressed, "Have asked channel to state reason I cannot be there at finale to cheer my friends on! Also, till yesterday I was to do a medley! What changed?" Bollywood Actor Hrithik Roshan was also refused entry in the finale. Hrithik was supposed to promote his upcoming release Agneepath on the grand finale of the TV show. Sanjay Dutt, the main villain of the film, being a part of the show should have helped the marketing initiative. However, Salman has put his foot down. Khan has now asked Imran Khan to promote Karan Johar's next production Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu on the grand finale. Later, Pooja Misrra and Shakti Kapoor also fell targets. They also were banned from attending the finale because of speaking against Khan in the media. Pooja Misrra was later asked to attend the finale.

Post Eviction Claims

Nihita Biswas

  • After her eviction, Nihita Biswas did not seem happy and felt cheated with the verdict. Nihita Biswas said that she was shocked to hear her name during elimination round. Nihita Biswas is sure this was all specifically designed otherwise in her comparison Pooja Misrra should have gone. She claims that she (Nihita) is a more popular face than Pooja Misrra but she has heard that Pooja Misrra has personal connection and she (Nihita Biswas) was from another country. So, this elimination was not fair at all and it feels that she is quite cheated. Nihita Biswas further added that she hopes that she is brought back in the wild card entry or other rounds because now she is aware of the nature of the Bigg Boss 5. Talking about Pooja Misrra, Nihita Biswas said that if Pooja Missra kept trying to save herself using her connection and hopefully she would be still be there and now other inmates will make comments on her, she can be nasty too.

Gulabo Sapera

  • After being evicted, Gulabo Sapera, stated in an interview, "She (Pooja M.) smokes a lot. So, she went into the smoking zone, smoked a cigarette and something else too. I am sure she is on drugs! And then she started behaving like a mad person, broke the mop and all."In an interview, Gulabo added, "Pooja would often ask me for incense sticks which I never refused to share until I got to know what she used it for. Honestly, I couldn’t believe when I saw her taking a lit incense stick to the washroom. What on earth will people do with a lit stick in the washroom? I’m sure she would either eat the remains or snort it. Uske baad toh woh badal jaati thi. Pooja is such an addict that she has even stolen those sticks from the packet I had." "Gulabo Sapera has maligned Pooja Misrra’s image in print. She should have been wary and careful with words. If Pooja decides to challenge her charges about drugs in the court of law, how will Gulabo be able to prove anything? She should have thought about this before indulging in image assassination on a national scale," remarks celebrity publicist Dale Bhagwagar. Dale, who has elaborately counseled Pooja Misrra over days before she entered Bigg Boss, added, "Many of my past clients on Bigg Boss have been disappointed as they were not permitted to carry a lot of their favourite things on the show. Even books or religious idols are not allowed inside the House." "To the best of my knowledge, each and every participant who enters Bigg Boss, goes through a medical fitness test just a few days ago and is thoroughly checked, scanned and screened along with all the baggage, before entering the show," he explains. The publicist concludes, "What Gulabo is saying is a case of sour grapes. I might believe, if someone tells me that things can be sneaked into jails, but there is no way anyone can smuggle unwanted materials into the Bigg Boss House without the knowledge of their production crew. It’s impossible. Their security levels are unbreachable."

Raageshwari Loomba

  • After her eviction, Singer Raageshwari Loomba felt that she was evicted from the Bigg Boss house as she was unable to create conflicts and thus failed to grab eyeballs. In an interview she said, "I could not create conflicts in the house and that led to my eviction. But even by indulging into conflicts I did not want to win eyeballs. I feel that is not the only way (to win the hearts of people). Raageshwari's failure to complete a secret task got her a nomination, which led to her eviction from the show. Asked whether her non-controversial personality proved to be negative for her in the show, the singer said, "I hope one day people will accept non-controversial people. People must get inspired by them as they seek love and peace. These are the only things that make wonders." Having recovered from facial paralysis, Raageshwari, entered the 'Bigg Boss' house to show to people that positivity can make a difference."All I wanted to do is spread love and peace. I have always tried to bridge the gap between contestants," she said. "I was there on the show to spread the message of love. I do not believe in tit-for-tat policy. I did the show to get an experience," she said. Rajastani folk dancer Gulabo Sapera, who was evicted from Bigg Boss 5 house last week, had revealed that Pooja Mishra was addicted to drugs and she was taking it inside the house. But Raageshwari said in an interview that Pooja M. is no druggie because the house is very hygiene. Moreover, it has lot of security and nothing can be smuggled inside. Raageshwari Loomba, who is known for looking at positive side of things, has a different say about Pooja Misrra. The singer says that Pooja is very traditional girl and she does pooja every day. She adds that Pooja has gone through a lot of hardships in life. So she has developed a kind of insecurity feeling. Despite being most controversial, she got maximum number votes from audience. Raageshwari Loomba accepts the fact that the reality show Bigg Boss is all about conflict, but she does not feel bad for not being controversial like other housemates.

Shakti Kapoor

  • After being evicted, Shakti Kapoor, stated in an interview, "People have a wrong notion that I am a bad guy. Bigg Boss people got me in the house with 13 females because they thought I will sneak into girls room at night and do something fishy. But I respect women a lot," said the actor. "Since I was not getting into anything like this or any fight or controversy, I got evicted. I think there is something planned about my eviction. Everyone in the audience feels there is something wrong. I thought I would win the show and so did the people," he claimed. "I didn't want to be offensive to any girl in the house. There were lots of people who tried to instigate me, but I am a gentleman and that's why I kept quiet; I could have said a lot of things but that would have been wrong. Some of them tried to link me with Shraddha Sharma but there was nothing of that sort. was not there to win but to prove to my children that I can stay away from alcohol for a month. I am proud that I could prove that. Also, they were happy that there were no fights in the house when I was the captain. Now my daughter Shraddha says that she wants to be born as my daughter even in her next life. Since that is the only way I can be safe from you.", he added.

Mandeep Bevli

Laxmi Narayan Tripathi

  • Transgender activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, after her eviction from Bigg Boss 5, said she was glad to have left with her "dignity and self-respect" intact. She predicted troublemaker VJ Pooja Misrra will end up being one of the top three contenders on the reality show. "My journey on the show was fantastic. When I was nominated this time, I knew it 110% that I will be evicted. So I am fine with the public's decision. I am only happy that I have managed to come out without losing my dignity and self respect," Tripathi told IANS over phone from Mumbai, after leaving the Bigg Boss 5 house. Of all her co-participants, Tripathi feels Pooja M. has a definite chance to reach the finals. "Juhi Parmar and Amar Upadhyay stand a chance to reach the finals, but Pooja seems to be the most likely to reach the final three because she is the biggest footage queen ever," said Tripathi. Pooja has been the centre of attention this season thanks to her catfights and over-the-top attitude. She has received a lot of flak from her co-participants, but the audience seems to be in love with her melodrama. "Pooja Misrra has been nominated for eviction five times...but I guess the viewers are enjoying watching her. She is such an opportunist, and making the best use of the platform by grabbing so much footage," added Tripathi, who feels actor Akashdeep Saighal's behaviour in the Bigg Boss 5 house is "gross and crass".

Vida Samadzai

  • Afghan beauty Vida Samadzai, after her eviction, said she was prepared to leave the show as she couldn't bear any more the constant bickering and cat-fights in the controversial reality show. "I was prepared for the eviction. I did what I wanted to do in the show - made wonderful friends in the house, faced some tough moments... In a week, there were only one or two days when there was peace and we had fun, rest of the time, there was so many fights, that now I was ready to leave," Vida told IANS after coming out of the house. The 33-year-old, who caused a stir in her country when she sported a bikini at a beauty pageant, has been living in India for the past five years. She wanted to spread the language of love in Bigg Boss 5, but felt it was a waste of time to try to change people. "I have gone through a lot of hardships in my native country. I have seen rockets, bullets and blasts... I have seen worse fights! So... dealing with people's mood swings and just dealing with different people was a piece of cake... But I just refuse to change people who get affected by nothing! For example, why should I have wasted my energy on people like Sky who are never ready to listen to anyone. What was the point in talking to people like that!" she said. Vida, who got embroiled in a fight with VJ Pooja Misrra and Siddharth Bhardwaj, feels actress Juhi Parmar has a strong chance to win this season because of her "balanced and fair" play. She said: "I have so many plans now! I have to meet my friends, people whom I have so dearly chosen, people who are nice, not manipulative, not judgemental, not argumentative... and I just want to celebrate my true friendship with them!". gyu

Pooja Bedi

  • After her eviction from the celebrity house, Pooja Bedi stated in an interview, "No show or contest is bigger for me than my children,", adding: "It's my daughter's birthday on Monday, and earlier, the production people had agreed to allow me to meet my daughter for ten minutes. But later, due to some technical problems, it was not possible. Hence, I asked my fans not to vote for me, so that I could be with my little darlings. As a single mother, I take my responsibilities very seriously!". Later her viewpoint towards the ejection of Pooja Misrra was summarized in the following dialogues, "Pooja Misrra has a mental imbalance! It was evident in the first week itself! She also has suicidal tendencies! She feels somebody has done black magic on her. Her extreme mood swings, her sudden temper bursts -all indicate to the fact that she's not well mentally. Initially, I used to get angry seeing her behave like that. But later on, I started being very protective towards her. I'm amazed that she was allowed to enter the show despite the psychological mapping, which is mandatory for all the contestants! I really feel that her mental imbalance was exploited commercially, which saddens me. I am glad that she is out of the show and now she will be getting experts' help, which she should have got a long while ago!"

Shraddha Sharma

  • After getting evicted from the house, Shraddha Sharma stated in an interview, "I am a very quiet person and like to stay away from arguments. But Sky provoked me. I just stood for myself against a person who abuses girls badly. My anger was reasonable. I was the only one from whom Sky kept a distance. He would not mess with me easily," said Shraddha, who is known for her 'Jalebi Bai' act in the house, told PTI after her eviction. Contrary to previous claims made by Pooja Bedi that the audience watch the edited version of the show, Shraddha said that 'Bigg Boss' does not show edited version of the happenings in the house. "I don't know what to feel. I think my eviction came way too soon than what I expected. I have mixed feeling. I am sad because I think I could have gone a long way in the show. But I am also happy that I am going home to my family an friends," she said. "Only three of us were nominated, Sunny, Sky and me, so there wasn't much option left for the audience. Sunny has been in the house for over two weeks now and there was not much chance of her to be evicted. And it was majorly between Sky and I," she added. Shraddha, who has previously participated in reality shows like 'Emotional Atyachaar' and 'Love Lockup', revealed that the politics in the house at times made her go mad.

Mahek Chahal

  • After getting ousted from the house, Mahek Chahal was furious over allegations made by Pooja Bedi against her and Salman Khan's "rumoured-to-be" favouritism towards her. She replied saying, "She (Pooja) is a very insecure person. That's why she has been spreading such lies. She is a woman of 40 and it surprises me that she indulges in such cheap publicity stunts. If I was really Mr Khan's (Salman) favorite I would have been the main lead in all his films. I should also have won the show," Mahek told PTI. "I have known him since the age of 18. I have worked with him in films. I also know Mr. Dutt. That does not mean they will favour me," she added. Contrary to previous claims by other contestants that audience watch the edited version of the show, Mahek said that 'Bigg Boss' does not edit out the happenings in the house. She also said that fellow contestant Sky (Akashdeep Saigal) is the bad boy in the house. When asked Who are the two most untrustworthy people in the celebrity house? Mahek replies with a hearty laugh: "Amar Upadhyay and Shonali Nagrani! They are both thali ke baingan (Eggplants in a plate), and you never know on whose side they are! So, they should get married because they deserve each other!"

Shonali Nagrani

  • Model-turned-host Shonali Nagrani, after getting voted out of 'Bigg Boss 5', said clash of male egos worsened the atmosphere inside the house. "Amar (Upadhyay) and Sky (Akashdeep Saigal) are playing dirty games inside the house and I really don't want either of them to win," Shonali told IANS on phone after coming out of the house. Shonali, who alleged Amar made advances at her, feels the actor is rude and selfish. "He is a family man and I won't like to talk about that issue now. I feel I should have talked to him about it then, but as a girl I really didn't have the guts to go upto him and talk about it. But he is playing a dirty game and I don't have a respect for him. He is a very rude and a selfish man," rued Shonali. "I don't like people who play mind games. He is very calculative. He only thinks from his mind and not from his heart. In his mind games, he has hurt a lot of people. He is completely opposite of what Mihir was on screen," she added. "I really want a woman to win the show and I wish Juhi emerges as the winner as she is a very positive and honest person and fights for truth. She might have been shown as an aggressive person in other reality show, but every human being has negatives and positives. I have a lot of respect for her," she said.

Sunny Leone

  • Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone, whose entry into the Bigg Boss house created a buzz, became the last contestant to be ousted from the reality show. "I feel sad that I couldn't make it to the final after being so close. I don't think it's because of my work that people didn't vote, but probably because I didn't create much controversy or pick up fights," Sunny told PTI over the phone from Mumbai. The 30-year-old actress maintained a low profile in the house and said that she found good friends in fellow contestants Akashdeep Saigal (Sky) and Juhi Parmar. "I am lucky to have made two good friends in the house. When I came in I didn't think that I will stay in touch with anybody but I will keep contact with Sky and Juhi," she said. Talking about her experience in the house, Sunny said, "It was bitter-sweet. I made two good friends but the fighting and arguments in the house would depress me at times. I have never seen people fighting so much. And I am happy that I kept my sanity and didn't get involved in any of the fights."

Amar Upadhyay

  • After getting evicted Amar Upadhyay was unable to endure the insult of being accused of being a "flirt". It all started when porn star Sunny Leone accused Amar for being "too touchy towards her." But such allegations were not welcomed by Amar at all. Daily Bhaskar reports about Amar's reaction towards the entire "rumoured" controversy. Amar said, "I have worked with so many female actresses, no one has ever told anything wrong about me. They know what I am and how do I work. If they don't say anything, then who is Sunny Leone? She has just come here sometime back. I don't care about whatever she has said. I know I'm a family person and my family knows how do I behave." A furious Amar did not stop here itself. He called her a "brainless" lady, who is doing films like Jism 2. Amar's such reactions make the fact evident that he has been really hurt by Sunny's such allegations and he could hardly forgive her anytime soon for her hard words against him.

Akashdeep Saigal alias "Sky"

  • After his controversial stay in the house, Akashdeep was evicted from Bigg Boss. After his ouster on the finale of the season he expressed, "I had no gameplan when I entered the show....I have not played games. In fact, it was difficult to make relations in the house as everyone were from different forms of life and had different ways of living. So to gel up with everyone was not easy," Akashdeep said here. "Everyone fought with each other as the circumstances were different in the house....It was not a cakewalk." Akashdeep had had fights with Siddharth every second day. "He is quite young and hot-blooded. I don't want to say anything about Sid. Everyone had different ways of living....Situations in the house were such that everyone could lose cool."

Ratings, Reception and Viewership

  • According to data available with aMap, a television viewership monitoring agency, the opening episode of Bigg Boss 5 on Colors got a rating of 4.3. Season 4 had an average rating of 3.6. Season 3 had average rating of 2.43 while Bigg Boss 2 and Bigg Boss 1 had average ratings of 2.03 and 1.96 .
  • After Pooja Misrra's unexpected exit Bigg boss 5 started to lose its sky scraping viewership in less than a week. In India, many fans who were supporters of the newly renowned Pooja M., who was mercilessly bullied throughout the show, stopped watching since she was shown the doors. Many others stopped watching because of Sky and Siddharth's indecent display of manners towards the female inhabitants and also due to the continuous favoritism by the Bigg Boss who had always showed a lenient attitude towards the male contestants. As a result, Bigg Boss 5 got a marked decline in its TRP ratings which fell drastically after the Aapka Farmaan episode aired on 26 November 2011.
