- Defeats Excess 69 and Keven Martel in a Triple Threat Match. This was a tournament final to crown the first champion.
- Defeats Petey Williams at the final EWR show, to claim the 2005 Elite 8 tournament as well as the EWR title (which was on the line throughout the evening). Steen is thus the first and last EWR champion.
- Competes against the likes of Christopher Daniels, Steve Corino, A.J. Styles; his first steps towards a larger north american exposure.
