Mickaël Landreau is a goalkeeper for Paris Saint-Germain and France. Born in Machecoul on May 14 1979, his first professional match was a 0-0 draw against Bastia.
Mickaël graduated from the FCNA centre of excellence at the Jonelière.
Since 1996, he has remained faithful to FCNA and has consistently produced excellent performances. He played for France in 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship. After having gained the French Cup two consecutive years in 1999 and 2000, Mickael became Champion of France in 2001.
The Nantes goalkeeper and captain has been called on several times by Raymond Domenech, manager of the French national team.
Mickael is however best known for his performances saving at penalty kicks. However this success was not evident at the time of the final of the league cup 2004 in Sochaux where he tried a 'Panenka' style penalty himself! So far, he has stopped over 30 penalties in his career.
Then in semi-final of the French Cup 2004, in spite of three stops, his team mates were profligate in front of goal.
The captain of the FCNA holds the number 1 shirt for France as a third goalkeeper behind Fabien Barthez and Grégory Coupet. Mickael presents many qualities, good reflexes, good hands and real character. Such qualities allow him turn unfavourable conditions in his favour vis-a-vis dangerous attackers.
At the end of the 2005/2006 season, he gave a press conference and announced that after thirteen years, he will leave FC Nantes to meet new challenges in a more important team. He then joined Paris Saint-Germain for four years on May 15th 2006.
