Hello and welcome to Misplaced Pages. When you add content to talk pages and Misplaced Pages pages that have open discussion, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 23:05, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

April 2013

Please stop using talk pages such as Talk:World War II for general discussion of the topic. They are for discussion related to improving the article; not for use as a forum or chat room. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. See here for more information. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 15:30, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to use talk pages for inappropriate discussion, as you did at Talk:Bede BD-5, you may be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 15:35, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

This is your last warning. The next time you use talk pages for inappropriate discussions, as you did at Talk:Door, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Binksternet (talk) 15:36, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

This is your last warning. The next time you use talk pages for inappropriate discussions, as you did at Talk:Vulcan (hypothetical planet), you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Binksternet (talk) 15:37, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Your edits to talk pages

Hey. I can't give you another final warning, because that would be silly - so here's the thing:

Article talk pages are for discussing improvements to the article, not your esoteric theories on Life, the Universe and Everything. See WP:TPG.

It's not because we're mean, it's because we're here to build an encyclopedia based on fact. If you just want to chat about stuff, find an online science forum or something.

You can't just keep plonking this stream of consciousness stuff on pages like you've been doing. That's not what goes on here. Eventually, someone will have to block you to stop you from disrupting people who are trying to be serious.

I know - it's a drag, but that's how it is. Cheers. Begoon 17:46, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Information icon Welcome to Misplaced Pages and thank you for your contributions. I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Motorcycle are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic or unrelated topics. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. Thank you for working to improve the site with your edit to Gotham City, as we really appreciate your participation. However, the edit had to be reverted, because Misplaced Pages cannot accept uncited material or original research. This includes material lacking cited sources, material obtained through personal knowledge, or which constitutes the an analysis or interpretation by the editor that is not found in cited sources. Misplaced Pages requires that the material in its articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the article text in the form of an inline citation, which you can learn to make here.

In addition, please take care to ensure that your additions conform to basic standards of writing. Specifically:

  • The passage that was already in the article that states "The distance between Gotham and Metropolis has varied greatly over the years, with depictions of the two ranging from being hundreds of miles apart to Gotham and Metropolis being shown as twin cities on opposite sides of the midwest and east coast United States." makes it redundant, and perhaps contradictory, to state, "Due to close proximity of the two cities, it can be reached via driving and walking distance so both cities are regarded as Gotham at times with the Gotham Bay inbetween them.". The prior passage makes clear that the distance between the two cities has varied, so it makes no sense to then state matter-of-factly a specific distance, without specifying the era, continuity or source from which that figure is derived.
  • When comparing two entities, the proper word to use when describing one having the lower quality than the other is worse, not worst. The word worst is to be used only when comparing three or more items.
  • A minor point, but spaces should not be placed before citations, as indicated by WP:PAIC.

If you ever have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 22:34, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

Please stop adding uncited material to Misplaced Pages, as you did with this edit to Gotham City. As I explained to you above, Misplaced Pages requires that the material in its articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the article text in the form of an inline citation, which you can learn to make here. You made no indication in your edit of where it was indicated that Blüdhaven is located in New Jersey, that Gotham City is located in both New York and New Jersey, or that the Gotham suburbs are "described as Long Island". In addition, "Gotham City" is a proper noun, and both words that comprise it are properly capitalized. You've already been warned numerous times on this talk page for disruptive editing. If you continue to ignore these warnings, you risk being blocked from editing. Please do not make that necessary. Nightscream (talk) 03:08, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
