Mr. Nelson is a digital Media Executive and has been a member of the entertainment community for over thirty years. This New York born and raised actor began his career as a child with many national commercials completed and Feature Films leading fast to a two year run on Broadway in Herb Gardner’s “Thieves”. He went on to guest star in a spin-off of “Sanford and Son” for Tandem Productions, and then as the grandson of Whitman Mayo’s “Grady” in the series of the same name. Haywood soon landed the role of “Dwayne” in the television series “What’s Happening!” for TOY Productions. After a successful 3 seasons Haywood went on to study Architecture and Electronics Engineering when the cast of “What’s Happening!” was re-united for three seasons of syndication in the series “What’s Happening Now!” for Columbia Pictures Television where he also observed as Technical Director. Haywood has more recently appeared in a Broadway production at New York’s Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall and the Paramount film “Dickie Roberts” starring David Spade for Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions.

Mr. Nelson has held numerous positions in film production including, Screen Writer, 1st Assistant Camera, V.P. of Sales and Marketing International, Film Distribution Foreign for Tanglewood Entertainment Group, and ultimately Content Development Consultant.


In the capacity of Business Development, Mr. Nelson has delivered enhanced interactive content and opened up niche market distribution channels in Asia, and Franco-Fone West Africa, in alliance with corporate clientele including Unisys Corporation, Echostar Networks, Orion Networks, Panamsat, Cais Internet’s Show Digital, HotelNet, New Otani Hotel Asia, Roosevelt Hotel/New York, J.W. Marriot, Helmsley Hotel Corporation, International Telecommunications Union, and others.


Currently Mr. Nelson is a Senior Partner and Writer/Producer in a Transmedia content start-up company partnered to Executive Produce network, digital, wireless, social media, and gaming content and solutions.


Previously, Mr. Nelson has served as CEO of Interactive Entertainment Development, Inc. a hospitality broadband interactive content service provider start-up. Prior thereto, Mr. Nelson served as Executive Vice President of Business Development at SimplyTV, Inc. a start-up broadband video-on-demand content distribution network, Executive Vice President of Music Link, Inc., a start-up music industry multimedia communications company, and Account Executive of Business Affairs, at MCI Telecommunications, Inc., Central California Branch.


Mr. Nelson has an educational background in Architectural Design from Porter and Chester Institute, Connecticut, and Electronics Engineering at Pratt Institute, New York.

Haywood Nelson (born March 25, 1960 in New York City) is an American actor. He is best known for having portrayed Dwayne Nelson on the television series What's Happening!!, and its spin-off series What's Happening Now!!

Haywood was a child star, appearing in many national commercials; he also appeared on Broadway in a successful show, Thieves. At the age of 14, he also guest starred on Sanford and Son (1972) as Grady's grandson; at 15, he was in the cast of a spin-off of Sanford and Son called Grady (1975). The show was short-lived.
