This is a Misplaced Pages user talk page.
This is not an encyclopedia article or the talk page for an encyclopedia article. If you find this page on any site other than Misplaced Pages, you are viewing a mirror site. Be aware that the page may be outdated and that the user whom this page is about may have no personal affiliation with any site other than Misplaced Pages. The original talk page is located at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:NiamhBurns10.
This is NiamhBurns10's talk page, where you can send them messages and comments.
If you leave a message here I will reply on it. If I feel it is important for you to get the message, I'll leave a reply on your message. If I reply on your message that you sent to me, I'm probably watching it so you can reply me back, though leaving a talk back template on my page is not a bad idea. Unless of course if you have something else to say besides the generic message.

Welcome!

Hello. It's NiamhBurns10 and welcome to my talk page. This is where you will be sending me a message. If you have a problem, just send me a message. Enjoy yourself here. Remember to follow me on Twitter. And don't forget to subscribe to me on YouTube. Please leave any message here. Any questions, compliments or criticism of my Misplaced Pages work, feel free to leave me a message here on my talk page. If you leave me a message here, I will reply on that message.

Rules:

1. No rude messages.

2. No saying "you may be blocked from editing without further warning", because that is inapporiate.

3. No stop hand images on messages.

4. No blocking me from editing.

5. No reporting me.

6. No saying that I am a idiot.

7. No telling me to shut up.

8. No messages with bad words allowed.

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for edit warring and violating the three-revert rule. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  Black Kite kite (talk) 19:52, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Blue Movie, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Viva (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Toy Story 3 edit

Not sure why you performed this edit, but hating something is not proper reasoning for removal; the table breaks without the template, and a compact list if better for readability. Also saying that one "will be blocked from editing If you revert me" in the edit summary when that isn't true is not appropriate for a collaborative encyclopedia. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 14:31, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

National varieties of English

Information icon In a recent edit to the page Zoolander, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Misplaced Pages has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Misplaced Pages articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Misplaced Pages articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. SummerPhD (talk) 14:45, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Vandalism

Extended content

In addition to several warnings you've received for vandalism, I see that you have been making some clearly incorrect changes to film grosses. These changes are most likely vandalism. If you make deliberately false changes to articles again, you will be blocked from editing without further warning. - SummerPhD (talk) 15:03, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Re this edit: If you would like, I can use the standard WP:CONSENSUS warning that uses the same language for blatant vandalism. In any case, so long as you do not add deliberately false information to articles again, it will not be an issue. Thanks. - SummerPhD (talk) 16:19, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Don't edit other's comments

Information icon Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at on my talk page is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Thank you. Edit summary

NiamhBurns10, would you please stop using "not vandalizing" as an edit summary? If you have to actually tell people you're not vandalizing in an edit summary, the edit likely requires some sort of additional explanation in the form of a more specific edit summary. It would be helpful if you explained what you are doing in the edit (e.g. correcting a typo) as opposed to what you are not doing (i.e. vandalizing). --Jezebel'sPonyo 16:19, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

That's nonsense, you are going to be blocked from editing. ~NiamhBurns10 Talk Contribs 21:01, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
If that is your response to a valid concern regarding your edits, well...good luck with the whole "collaborative editing" requirement. Do you intend to report me at WP:AIV? Or should I fall on my own sword? --Jezebel'sPonyo 20:09, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
Fall on your own sword. ~NiamhBurns10 Talk Contribs 21:47, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
Not today, alas. If, however, you would like to avoid having other editors leave messages on your page pointing out your errors it would be helpful if you stopped blanking content without any viable reason for doing so, stop editing other people's comments on their talk pages and leave edit summaries that are actually summaries of your edits as advised at Help:Edit summary. I assume that you'll have some sort of nonsensical response about how I will be blocked for advising you that your edits have been disruptive; if my assumptions are borne out please don't expect any further replies from me.--Jezebel'sPonyo 21:12, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
Your edit summaries should describe what you are doing. This summary indicates you are making a change related to national varieties of English. You were actually adding an actor's name to a film. Why did you choose this edit summary? - SummerPhD (talk) 17:14, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

Suggestion

You seem to be running into some problems figuring out how this whole Misplaced Pages thing is supposed to work. It can be pretty overwhelming! I would strongly encourage you to consider signing up for the Adopt-a-user program. The program teams you with a more experienced editor who helps you figure it all out. - SummerPhD (talk) 00:58, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm SummerPhD. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to User:Mutaal98 because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Other than contacting them on their talk page, do not edit pages in others' user space. SummerPhD (talk) 17:17, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

Expanding on this, Niamh, you need to stop editing others' talk page comments, as you did here. Editing others' comments, or collapsing them on another user's talk page without explanation, isn't appropriate. Thanks. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 21:26, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Misplaced Pages, as you did at User:Mutaal98, you may be blocked from editing. If you continue doing this, you will be blocked from editing. Please discuss the issue (and again, please consider the Adopt-a-user program). SummerPhD (talk) 23:33, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

Please stop your disruptive editing, as you did at User talk:SummerPhD. Your edits have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Misplaced Pages's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, seek assistance at Misplaced Pages's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively may result in your being blocked from editing.  Velella    08:18, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

Based on the note at the top of this page and several of your edit summaries, you seem to not understand warnings on Misplaced Pages. Warnings are acceptable on Misplaced Pages, including warnings that say you will be blocked. Any editor may issue a warning, generally by using one of the standard warnings listed and explained at WP:WARN. After sufficient warnings (or for more serious problems), Misplaced Pages's administrators issue blocks, preventing the problematic editor from causing further problems. You are not an administrator. You cannot block me, as you tried to do here.
If you continue the way you are going, you are going to end up blocked from editing. To avoid that, I again recommend WP:Adopt-a-user. - 13:34, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

Luxo Jr. revert

Why did you revert me? Length of videos is listed in hours:minutes:seconds. - Denimadept (talk) 03:11, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

@Denimadept: I'm with Niamh in this case. When you list 2:12, it's not clear from first glance whether that means 2 hours and 12 minutes, or 2 minutes and 12 seconds (MOS:TIME#cite_ref-13). Writing out the time is better, as is done in similar articles (Red's Dream, Rescue Squad Mater, etc.) ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 08:38, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
If that gives you trouble, add the zero hours. 00:02:12 - Denimadept (talk) 16:06, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
@Denimadept: I restored it to 00:02:12. ~NiamhBurns10 19:06, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
@Denimadept: I've restored it to 2:12. ~NiamhBurns10 19:13, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

Regarding your edits to All Stars (film), it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Editing others' userpage

Extended content

Hi Niamh - may I recommend that you stop editing other users' userpages? Doing so without good reason is generally frowned upon, including creating other users' userpages, even with just Template:userpage mini. Edits such as this where you restore what the user has also removed in the past are also not appropriate. Not everyone needs a userpage, and it's up to them how they manage it (to an extent). Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 17:13, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

In response to your boilerplate vandalism warning on my talk page:
  • My edit was not vandalism - I have explained my reversion, both here and in the edit summary. You should not be substantially editing other users' userpages, per WP:NOBAN. Simple, non-controversial edits such as fixing a template and whatnot is fine. Things like restoring content removed by a user themselves is not.
  • You state on your own talk page that warnings, block messages, and "stop hand images" are not appropriate, yet you use them yourself.
  • You also state that you welcome commentary and criticism of your edits - apparently not so.
Niamh, you've been warned about things like this numerous times before. You cannot mis-use vandalism warnings, nor can you ignore Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines for conduct. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 17:54, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
When I noindexed your userpage, you left me a warning saying I wasn't allowed to, yet now I see you've been making major edits to other's userpages. Jackmcbarn (talk) 18:10, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

July 2014

Extended content

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. I noticed that your user page may not be appropriate to be indexed by external search engines as presently written. Typically, this could be because it appears promotional, or contains material in development or archived that doesn't yet meet policies and guidelines. I have tagged this page as __NOINDEX__, which allows editing but minimizes the page's inclusion in search engine results.

If you believe that your userpage does not violate our guidelines, please leave a note here and we can discuss it. As an alternative, you may add {{db-userreq}} to the top of the page in question and an administrator will delete it, you can change the page so that it more clearly meets Misplaced Pages guidelines, or you can edit it as normal and ignore the tag completely (it will not affect editing).

However, please do not remove the tag without discussion. Thank you. Jackmcbarn (talk) 15:16, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

You should stop making user pages of other users, you are not allowed to create user pages, you can only create the user pages of your own accounts. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 15:19, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Users may remove warnings from their user pages

Don't try to re-add a warning, which a user has removed from his talk page. Your actions could be interpreted as harassment and lead to you being blocked from editing. Favonian (talk) 16:57, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Regarding your talk page and user page

I think the reason why Jackmcbarn has been adding the "noindex" to your pages is because they both clearly violate the Misplaced Pages guideline WP:NOTWEBHOST. The fact that you are advertising your Twitter and YouTube pages on Misplaced Pages is a clear violation of Misplaced Pages guidelines. The "noindex" makes it so search engines cannot "find" this page when doing search. I would honestly recommend that you leave the "noindex" intact; otherwise, you may see your user pages end up on WP:MFD. (Seriously, I would highly recommend removing your links to other external sites from your user pages before it becomes a bigger issue. Also, good luck with that "1-year block" thing; the worst I could see happening to Jack is a couple-day block for edit warring.) Steel1943 (talk) 17:02, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi NiamhBurns10, I have unfortunately had to suppress some of your edits because they reveal too much personally identifiable information about you. We have a policy of protecting editors' safety by hiding such information if they share it. I'm really sorry about having to suppress your edits, and I know it's annoying, but it's for the best. Please don't re-add the information.
