Otto von Kerpen was the second Grand Master (Hochmeister) of the Teutonic Order, from 1200 to 1206. He came from a poor knightly family from Rheinland residing in the Kerpen castle near Gillesheim. His six years as the Grand Master was an instant battle trying to make the Teutonic Order independent from the older Orders like the Knights Templars and the Knights of Saint John. Otto von Kerpen died in 1206 and was burried in Acre.
