Born Dion O'Brien on 2 July 1934 in Hampstead, London, England, Tom Springfield was the brother of Dusty Springfield and an important figure in the 1960's folk and pop music scene.
Initially, he performed in The Springfields (a vocal group) before becoming a producer and songwriter for The Seekers. Georgy Girl was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song in 1966.
