Bobbi Kristina Brown (born March 4, 1993) is an American reality television star, media personality, singer, and heiress. She is the daughter of singers Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston. After Houston's death at age 48 on February 11, 2012, Brown inherited her mother's estate.
Early life
Bobbi Kristina "Krissy" Brown was delivered via cesarean section to Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown on March 4, 1993. Her godmother is CeCe Winans, Houston's close friend. Of the experience, Houston stated, "Having Bobbi Kristina ... I could never do anything that could top that. There's been nothing more incredible in my life than having her. God knows, I have been in front of millions and millions of people, and that has been incredible, to feel that give-take thing. But, man, when I gave birth to her and when they put her in my arms, I thought: This has got to be it. This is the ultimate. I haven't experienced anything greater."
Several members of Brown's family have been in the public eye. Her maternal grandmother is Cissy Houston of The Drinkard Singers. Brown's mother Whitney was the cousin of Dee Dee Warwick, and Dionne Warwick, mother of Damon Elliott. Bobbi is also the niece of Gary Houston, Whitney's half-brother.
Brown's childhood has been characterized as "far from easy", with writers citing her parents' drug problems, paparazzi scrutiny, and domestic violence issues. Brown's parents divorced when she was 14, and Houston gained custody of her daughter. Brown grew up in the spotlight; her mother accepted an American Music Award in 1994 while holding Brown on stage.
Adult life
Houston's estate in its entirety went to her daughter, including clothing, jewelry, cars, personal effects and furniture. Payments will be released in installments until Brown reaches age 30, at which time she will receive the entire $115 million dollar estate.
Brown was accused of incest after becoming romantically involved with Nick Gordon, who had come to live with the Houston family at age 12 after his mother could no longer care for him on her own. Before becoming romantically involved with Gordon, Brown referred to him as her "big brother". In October 2012, Brown announced her engagement to Gordon. The couple had a tumultuous beginning, and in July 2013 Brown announced that the engagement was back on after it had been called off at least once. Through her Facebook page, she posted: "YES, we me nick are engaged. I'm tired of hearing people say 'eww your [sic] engaged to your brother or if Whitney was still alive would we be together or would she approve of this. Let me clear up something, we aren't even real brother and sister nor is he my adoptive brother. My mom never adopted him. In fact, mommy was the one who even said that she knew that we were going to start dating. My mom knows me better than any of you." The couple were married on January 9, 2014.
On January 31, 2015, Brown was found face down in a bathtub in her Georgia home. Her husband and a friend called 9-1-1 and began CPR until public safety officers took over. Police said Brown was alive and breathing after being transported to North Fulton Hospital, where she was placed in an induced coma. Officers searched the home and found no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved. The following day, doctors told her family that Brown had "significantly diminished" brain function and that chances for recovery were not good; a cousin called Brown a "tiger" and said family members expect her to "pull through".
Several well-known entertainers took to Twitter to offer their thoughts and prayers. They include Andy Cohen, Missy Elliott, Holly Robinson Peete, Al B. Sure! and Diane Warren.
