Here is a listing of cities which sport an underground system. This kind of transport is called by a bewildering number of names all over the world. In Misplaced Pages, we use the term underground to refer to the phenomenon itself, since the London Underground was the first transport system of this kind. In this listing, the local names (if any apply) of the transport system are mentioned as well.
Cities which sport an underground system, listed alphabetically:
- Amsterdam
- Athens
- Atlanta ("MARTA" Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority)
- Baltimore
- Barcelona (Metro)
- Berlin (two systems that fit the underground definition, one called "S-Bahn", the other "U-Bahn". They are still separately administered for historical reasons.)
