Life and career
1997–2012: Early life and The X Facotor US
Cabello was born in Cojimar, Cuba, to Sinuhe Cabello, who is of Cuban descent, and Alejandro Cabello, who is of Mexican descent. She lived there until she was five years old and moved to Mexico for a short period. She and her mother then moved to Miami to settle where Cabello, who spoke only Spanish, learned English on her own. She attended Miami Palmetto High School though she withdrew in the middle of her 2012-2013 year of school.
Her mother recalls that instead of a traditional quinceanera party, Cabello wanted to audition for the X-Factor. She auditioned for The X-Factor in 2012, as a solo act in Greensboro, North Carolina Cabello made it as far as the judges' homes rounds. Simon Cowell decided to use Cabello and other young women who were cut in these rounds to create all-female pop groups. Cabello's audition and bootcamp performances for X Factor were not shown on the show due to copyright issues. The group that Camila was placed into named themselves Fifth Harmony.
2013–present: Success with Fifth Harmony
Cabello co-wrote the songs "Don't Want to Dance Alone", "Who Are You", and "Me & My Girls" from Fifth Harmony's debut extended play Better Together. It has also been reported that Cabello has co-written some songs for LunchMoney Lewis's upcoming album. Mattel has designed a Barbie doll based on Cabello's likeness.
