ShortcutsPlease submit error reports only for content that is currently or will imminently appear on the Main Page. For general discussion about the Main Page, kindly use its talk page. |
National variations of the English language have been extensively discussed previously:

To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.
Main Page toolbox- Protected pages
- Commons media protection
- Associated
- It is currently 21:41 UTC.
- Purge the Main Page
- Purge this page
- Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
- Offer a correction if possible.
- References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
- Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 21:41 on 9 January 2025) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
- Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
- Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
- No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
- Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
- Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

Errors in In the news
Errors in the current Did you know...
"... that Donald Trump never drank Trump Vodka" needs a different tense, I think. It's too final. As the article makes clear it's still manufactured, and pedantically, I'm sure there's no assurance that either all stocks have been destroyed or that Trump is not capable of drinking again, it needs to be something like "... that Donald Trump has never drunk Trump Vodka" --Dweller (talk) 14:04, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
- I don't think we can use "drunk" grammatically in that form without causing confusion.--WaltCip (talk) 15:07, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
- Has drunk is the past-perfect tense. Were we to use the phrase above, it'd better not to split it: never has drunk. Sca (talk) 15:20, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
Errors in today's or tomorrow's On this day
- The short description for the Convair B-36 Peacemaker claims the aircraft was "...the first purpose-designed nuclear weapon delivery vehicle to be mass-produced..." but reading the article makes it clear that was not the case. It was used for that purpose, but it was not designed for it. Take out "purpose-designed" and it's correct.
- To sidestep such historical pitfalls, how about this:
- The prototype of the Convair B-36 "Peacemaker" (pictured), the Cold War's first intercontinental nuclear-weapon delivery vehicle, made its maiden flight.
- Re "intercontenental," note that article describes the B-36 as "the world's first manned bomber capable of intercontinental flight without refuelling" (sic).
- ("Peacemaker" should be in quotes as an informal name and nuclear-weapon should be hyphenated as a compound modifier.)
- Sca (talk) 20:36, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
- To sidestep such historical pitfalls, how about this:
- Per WP:Copyedit#Punctuation, a comma is required after "Czech Republic" in "... en route to Prague, Czech Republic struck a part ...". HandsomeFella (talk) 13:12, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
- Why do we need to specify "Czech Republic". If it had been on the way to somewhere called Prague that isn't the one in the Czech Republic, we might need to name the country, but this seems excessive disambiguation. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 14:06, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
- Agree with Dweller. – Sca (talk) 15:23, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
- Maybe, but if "Czech Republic" is there, the comma is required. Please put it there already, or remove "Czech Republic"; it's an eye-sore. HandsomeFella (talk) 15:34, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
