Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Mohammad Alavi (game developer) (2nd nomination)
This was not a clear keep. Please revert and let an admin close it? czar 03:03, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Czar, sorry for replying late. Although the AfD was a clear keep, but since you brought it up, do you still want me to reopen the AfD? The way voting / debate on AfD took place, it is good candidate for WP:SNOW. I am ok in opening the AfD again, let me know (although I don't see a different outcome). Cheers, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 16:50, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of Seema Malaka
The article Seema Malaka you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Seema Malaka for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. DYK for Everest (cigarette)
On 23 August 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Everest (cigarette), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that since the Beatles' audio engineer Geoff Emerick used to smoke Everest cigarettes, Abbey Road was originally planned to be titled Mount Everest, Everest or Ever Rest? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Everest (cigarette). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Everest (cigarette)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Recent non-admin closures
Hello, Arun. I noticed that you've recently been closing some of the AfD's for state-level pageant winners. This issue is currently the subject of controversy, as evidenced by the RfC taking place on the talk page of the Beauty Pageant project. As such, these closures fall within the scope of Pitfall #1 of the guidelines for non-administrator closures. Although I am not asking you to undo any of these closures, I do ask you to reconsider whether you should be doing any more of them. NewYorkActuary (talk) 15:19, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hello NewYorkActuary, thanks for your message. There is a difference between "dispute / controversy" and "open discussion". What you are talking about is an open discussion here which is NOT at ALL controversial or disputed. It is an open discussion and as per the existing guidelines (incl GNG) + the consensus built on the individual AfD, I performed the NAC. Trust you are clear now. Not the most brilliant close I've ever seen. Would you self-revert, please?—S Marshall T/C 16:32, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hello S Marshall. Why? Except for you, all other voters (DGG, Shawn in Montreal, Kvng, Atlantic306 and Dane2007) debated and voted for the article to be kept. Actually, this was a good case of WP:SNOW (keep). Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 16:46, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- Because part way through the debate I discovered that the article was also a copyright violation, and said so, but this point received no attention. It was inappropriate to close the debate as "keep" when that argument was present and had not been addressed.—S Marshall T/C 17:33, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- I performed Copyvio check and it is far from violation (only 11.5% confidence). I noticed your comment on the AfD, but as we stand now, this is not a case of copyvio. If you are confident of copyvio, kindly consider 2nd nomination or a DRV. Cheers, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 17:38, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- I've tagged it for {{manual|date=August 2016}}. I agree the paraphrasing of main section text isn't close enough to merit a copyvio tag, imho. I didn't check all the subsections, tho. I also think the problem is the Afd argument keeps shifting: it can't be simultaneously a bad machine translation and copyvio of the Fr. official site, it seems to me: if the automated rewriting was so bad -- which I don't think it was, when I saw it -- surely the garbled translation would also distance it from the original French official text. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 17:44, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- Misplaced Pages:Deletion review/Log/2016 August 23. All the best—S Marshall T/C 17:49, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- Incidentally, yes, it can be a bad machine translation of a copyright violation; the idea that it can't holds no water at all.—S Marshall T/C 17:51, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- No issues S Marshall. Since this is on DRV now, lets discuss it there. Cheers, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 17:55, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for tagging me in this. I will respond at DRV. -- Dane2007 22:34, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
