Template:SpongeBobCharacterMrs. Poppy Puff is a fictional character on the Nickelodeon animated television series, SpongeBob SquarePants. She works as a Boating School Driving instructor who teaches students (including SpongeBob) at Mrs. Puff's Boating School. Mary Jo Catlett, better known for her role as Pearl the maid on Diff'rent Strokes, provides Mrs. Puff's voice.
Mrs. Puff often gets hurt by SpongeBob's bad driving, and ends up in jail a few times. Her erratic behavior comes from two fears: the first, being stuck teaching SpongeBob, an annoyingly painful, and yet perfect, student; the other is letting loose a monster like SpongeBob who could destroy Bikini Bottom with his awful driving skills. Being a pufferfish, she often inflates herself when something bad happens, such as when SpongeBob crashes during boating lessons.
Not much has been revealed about her personal history, except that she has had to move from another town and start a new boating school under a new name ("...I'll move to a new town, start a new boating school under a new name. No. Not again..." No Free Rides) , and has had a history of mental instability ("You can get through this without losing your sanity. Whew, that's a road we don't want to go down again" Doing Time).
Not much is known about her love life, but Mrs. Puff once had a husband, Mr. Puff. However, she doesn't like to talk about what happened to him (Mr. Puff was turned into a lamp). She went on two dates with Mr. Krabs in "Krusty Love."
