Name

Her name in her FIG's Profile and in Gymn-Forum's biography is "Larissa Latynina". Search in Google for "Larissa Latynina" returns 13.800 results, while for "Larisa Latynina" it returns 956 results.

Hence, I suggest to move this page to "Larissa Latynina". Any comments/critical objections? Cmapm 06:13, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Done. —Nightstallion (?) 10:03, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Russian names and patronymics

Also to all other authors of English-speaking pages who write about Russian people. Mine to you advice(council). Create all over again page about that how correctly to write Russian names and patronymics Write even on 50 man's and female most распостранненных names And from them accordingly man's and female patronymics of people Place this page in Misplaced Pages and she(it) should be a rule for all authors. It will be easier to work At present all authors write on miscellaneous, At present in Misplaced Pages some Russian имёнf and patronymics have 3-4 variants of a spelling. Is simply ridiculous to see some kinds of a spelling, absolutely illiterately.

Olympic Order

After reading this page, I was curious about the Olympic Order. I found the page Olympic Order but noticed that she's not listed on it. Can someone please clarify? Should it be linked (in her Awards and Honors section)? Shuckiduck (talk) 09:43, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Olympian with most medals needs to be updated. No longer the Olympian with most medals. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.183.29.46 (talk) 11:46, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Huge advantage for athletes from big countries

If Larissa Latynina was from Portugal or another small country she would have many fewer medals, because so many of her medals are from team events where she needed her comrades, and it is much easier to win those if your country is big and has many other top athletes in the same sport. Shouldn't this be mentioned somewhere? Olympicdreams (talk) 22:22, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Nope. If you look at her medal count. Only four of her medals from the Olympics are "team" events. That's out of 18 (if you're curious, here's how it breaks down:
Team 4 (Team All-Around 3, Team All-Around (Portable Apparatus) 1)
Individual All-Around 3
Event 11 (Vault 3, Floor Exercise 3, Uneven Bars 3, Balance Beam 2))
So like the other two articles you've brought this up in, adding this in would be patently untrue. SirFozzie (talk) 22:53, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying this! So in the individual medal count she is far ahead of all the others, isn't she? Again, shouldn't we have an extra table for the athletes with the most individual medals, to eliminate the bias towards big nations? Olympicdreams (talk) 23:10, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
She's not as far ahead as you might think. She has 14. Phelps has.. I want to say 9 or 10, and more of Phelps's are gold. Plus when you consider that she was eligible for 7 (Melbourne) or 6 (Rome and Tokyo) medals each Olympics (Team, Individual All-Around, 4 events), she had just as much chance as Phelps (5 individual medals in each, there was two team competitions in Melbourne). But perhaps maybe a mention that she holds the record for most individual medals in Olympic history should be in the article? (If we can find a cite for it) SirFozzie (talk) 23:15, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
I agree, mention that she holds the record for most individual medals in Olympic history. Olympicdreams (talk) 23:21, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Birthplace

where was she born? this info should be added in the article —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.219.181.84 (talk) 07:59, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

It's already mentioned in the InfoBox. The Mysterious El Willstro (talk) 05:34, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Rating

I've re-rated this start-class because of the lack of inline citations, and because it seems quite short for such an important person. INeverCry 21:25, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

"Final clarification to end edit war"

To quote the Edit Note which I posted on one of my Edits to this Article, that is. Anyone who argues with me is arguing with Michael Phelps' medal count as shown in his Wiki Article's InfoBox (anything that says "4X" something or other is a relay). I counted.
