Me
Hello, I'm Kazan - I was born 1983-12-25, and soon to be married (2006-11-11). I am a software developer, both for my day job and on the FreeSpace 2 Open Source code Project. I have partially completed a degree in computer science and will be returning to school to do the rest.. presently. I currently work in the eGovernment software sector for a state contractor.
I have no tolerance for religious extremists who feel they have the right to legislate their beliefs. No, you don't get to tell homosexuals they're evil, and legistlate against them (that's bigotry). No, you don't get to tell people they cannot have abortions. No you don't have the right to claim they're committing murder as no objective definition of murder fits featuses as they are not yet individuals. No I'm not going to burn in hell for being an atheist, it's your hell - you burn in it. No, you don't get to keep your religious crap in the United States government - it's against the constitution.
Christians, muslims, etc who work against the extremists of their various religions and promote religious freedom and equality are to be applauded. They need to step up and drown out the extremists. I'll disagree with you, and argue with you, about religion - but it will be on friendly terms.
Non-voluntary circumcision is absolutely unacceptable in all cases and constitutes Genital Mutilation. Medically warranted circumcision should only be used when absolutely warranted and less-invasive proceedures have had no effect (per the British Medical Association's quite astute recommendation). The foreskin is not "just a flap of skin" (http://www.noharmm.org/advantage.htm) and no it's not just "a little snip" (http://www.noharmm.org/snip.htm)
Concerns
- Computer Games, especially space flight combat simulations (Wing Commander, FreeSpace 2)
- Cessation of anti-atheist bigotry by christians, especially in the United States
- Prevention of non-voluntary circumcision (as I am the victim of such)
- Stopping smoking, it violates the rights of non-smokers
