He has flown reconnaissance aircraft missions into three ]s and has made 15 different penetrations into the eye of the storm. In ], he was honored by The ] with an award for Outstanding Service by a Broadcast Meteorologist. He was presented the distinguished service award by the national hurricane conference in ] for his leadership efforts in hurricane preparedness. He also received the Media award from the Florida Governor’s Hurricane conference in ]. In ], he celebrated 25 years working as a meteorologist for ].

Fletcher, a native of ], graduated from the ] in ]. He had an early ambition to be a television news broadcaster and started his career in ], working as a news anchor and occasionally doing the weather. In the early 1970s, he began working as a full time meteorologist in ], and would spend several years in the city. He earned the AMS seal of approval in 1978. Fletcher would go on to work in Corpus Christi and then back at KMTV in Omaha. In 1980, he would leave Omaha and begin his tenure at then ABC affiliate WTSP-TV as chief meteorologist on ], ]. He was widely praised for his leadership during ] in September of ] and for popular segments in which he would answer weather questions from viewers, called "Weather Whys". Fletcher also participates in many community events and is a noted publc speaker. He is a former member and chairman (1990-1992) of the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council.

In 1989, Fletcher was nearly replaced by ] television meteorologist Bob Alan. Thanks to a massive viewer outcry, however, Fletcher retained his position.

On ], ], Fletcher suffered a stroke at the TV station just before a 4 p.m. news broadcast. Since then, he has repeatedly made public appearances for the cause of stroke survival and prevention.

He lives in St. Petersburg with his wife, Cindy, and has three adult children.

Anna Allen

Anna Allen is the Morning and Noon Meteorologist and holds seals of approval from the American Meterological Society and the National Weather Association. Allen is a native of Bradenton, Florida

Justin Allen

'Justin Allen is a sports anchor for WTSP. He joined the station from KXTV in Sacramento, California

Angela Atalla

Angela Atallajoined WTSP as General Assignment Reporter from WXYX-TV in Detroit.

Dave Balut

Dave Balutis the Investigative Reporter for WTSP. Originally from Massachusetts, he has a BA in Journalism from Michigan State University and is the winner of an Edward R. Murrow award for Investigative Reporting.

Brittany Benner

Brittany Benner is the Tallahassee Political Correspondent for WTSP. She joined the station in 2006 from KSFY in South Dakota.

Valerie Boey

Valerie Boey is WTSP's Political Reporter/State Capital Correspondent. She joined the station from WINK-TV, where she won an Associated Press award for best feature in 2000. She is a Chinese American.

Dave Bohman

Dave Bohman has been with WTSP since 1998 as a General Assignment Reporter. He has won several awards including a Wilbur Award in 2005.

Kathryn Bursch

Kathryn Burschjoined WTSP as a General Assignment Reporter in 1999. She is originally from Alexandria, Minnesota and is a graduate of the University of Minnesota where she recieved a degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Mike Deeson

Mike Deeson is the Senior Reporter for WTSP, joining the station in 1982 from WAVY-TV in Norfolk, Virginia. He is best known for his investigative reporting. The graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism has wond everal awards, including Emmy awards in 1999 and 2000.

Mario Diaz

Mario Diaz joined WTSP in 2002 from KTNV in Las Vegas. He is currently the Morning and Noon Anchor/Reporter. A native of Los Angeles, Mario is fluent in Spanish and is a boxing commentator in Spanish for HBO and in English on ESPN.
