Hawarden is a city in Sioux County, Iowa, United States. The population was 2,478 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.8 km² (3.0 mi²). 7.5 km² (2.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (4.32%) is water.

There were 1,098 housing units at an average density of 147.2/km² (381.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.83% White, 0.32% African American, 0.56% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 3.67% from other races, and 1.33% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.38% of the population.
