In 2014, the production house was finalizing the draft of the script, this being a music-based film. 99 Songs is an upcoming Indian romantic musical film film directed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy. The story, soundtrack and film score are written by A. R. Rahman. The film is a sensual story about art and self-discovery of a struggling singer who wants to be a successful music composer.

In 2014, the production house was finalizing the draft of the script, this being a music-based film. The film was titled 99 Songs and the makers casting process had begun in Mumbai. Overall, the scripting and finalizing process took four years. On casting, the production house wanted a South Indian actor to play the male lead musician who had basic understanding of music too. The supporting cast will have international musicians and actors. The casting of the film has been done by casting director Mukesh Chhabra.
