The Martyrs of Uganda are a group of Catholics and Protestants killed by Mwanga, ruler of Buganda. They were killed between 1885 and 1887.
When commemorating the Martyrs of Uganda, the Church of England includes Archbishop Luwum, who died in 1977, although he is also commemorated separately on 17 February. Twenty-two Catholic martyrs were later canonized by Pope Paul VI on October 18, 1964.
