Jerry and Jumbo is a 1953-copyrighted one reel animated cartoon and is the 74th Tom and Jerry short, created in 1951, directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera and produced by Fred Quimby with music scored by Scott Bradley. It is the sequel to Little Runaway, and the third (along with Jerry and the Lion) and the final entry in the "Circus Escape Trilogy" (the only major difference in format between this film and the others is that it is about the baby elephant). It was animated by Kenneth Muse, Irven Spence and Ed Barge with backgrounds by Robert Gentle and was released to theatres on February 21, 1953 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The last time that Tom has a grey stripe between his eyes.

Its name in Japanese is unchanged except for being written as Jerry and Jumbo (Jieri to Janbo) A baby elephant accidentally rolls off the circus train to land in Tom's bed. He sees Tom and hides himself in the covers, while a tired Tom sleeps on the baby elephant. The baby elephant runs away, leaving Tom hit on the table. He has realized that a stranger came here and went to sleep. The baby elephant spots milk and inhales it with trunk. Tom noticed that the bowl was empty, walks up to Jerry to find out that he drank all of the milk. The baby elephant rescues Jerry from Tom by inhaling his trunk. Since that, they both become friends and lift out a bag of peanuts, causing Tom to be awake. Both run away in a closet as Tom walks up to the kitchen. The elephant's trunk inhales the peanuts, revealing out a parade until the door. Tom realized that they were in the closet, so Jerry disguised the elephant as him, using paint. Out comes the little Jerry, with a hammer hitting Tom's foot. He opens the door, seeing the elephant again, punching him all the way to the cabinet thing, with papers flying everywhere. Tom opens the door, to make sure that the elephant isn't aware of hitting him, instead he hears a glass breaking. Jerry is running, leaving Tom chasing him. He runs to the other side, with the elephant copying his moves. Tom is unaware of this and moves to the other side again, with Jerry copying his moves. He runs to the other side twice one with Jerry and the other with him and the elephant. He looks at the elephant, then Jerry three times. Tom runs to them, shocked to see a huge mouse hole, sets out a huge mouse trap and runs off. The baby elephant turns it to the other side, inhaling Tom, who noticed this and shocked and tries to run away, but instead gets caught in the huge mouse trap. The chase leads to a small mouse hole, hoping to catch Jerry, but instead catches the baby elephant. He pulls him out, all the way to the stairs, making him flat. The chase continues and Jerry is shocked that Tom shoots him with a gun several times. The mother elephant finds the baby elephant, hides when Tom shoots his gun at Jerry. He runs out, finding the baby elephant painting his mother. Tom grabs a gun, finding a small Jerry, the baby elephant, and the mother elephant. Tom, goes crazy at this and starts running off with laughter, breaking fences and walls. A baby elephant rolls of a circus to Tom's bed. After rescuing Jerry, they play a trick on Tom by disguising the baby elephant as a huge Jerry. A baby elephant falls from a passing train into a house, and into Tom's basket. Jerry helps to hide the elephant from Tom by painting him up as a giant mouse, which gives Tom severe confusion. At the end of the cartoon, Tom comes face to face with Jerry, Jumbo, and the mother elephant (also painted in mouse colours). Tom believes that he is insane and runs off manically. A baby elephant accidentally falls from a passing train into a house, and, as luck would have it, into Tom's basket. Jumbo hides under Tom's blanket as Tom stretches and goes to sleep. Tom pushes part of Jumbo down such that his trunk is showing, but Jumbo pulls it back such that Tom who is dead tired, pays no attention. Jumbo steps out of the basket and runs around with Tom on top of him, causing Tom to bump his head on a cabinet. Tom is confused, but goes back to sleep in his basket again. Jumbo is revealed to have strong suction; he can draw things towards him by contracting his trunk. He demonstrates this by sucking up all of Tom's milk from 15 feet away, waking the cat up again. Jumbo hides behind a chair as Tom storms into the kitchen. Jerry just happens to be stealing his milk from the refrigerator and Tom confronts him. A drop of milk falls from his whisker and Tom thinks that Jerry has stolen his milk. Jerry denies it, but Tom is about to smash Jerry with the milk bowl when Jumbo sucks Jerry away and Tom misses. Tom is puzzled and walks away. Jerry and Jumbo shake on it (Jumbo uses his trunk). Jerry accesses a bag of peanuts by standing on Jumbo and retrieving it from the cabinet, but it breaks over Jumbo's head and wakes Tom up again. Jumbo flees, summoning Jerry with his suction, into a closet. Tom sees the peanuts on the floor get sucked around the floor and into the closet and then Tom attempts to open the closet door. Jerry paints Jumbo brown and turns him into a giant lookalike of Jerry. They then unlock the door and Tom is met with hammers from both Jerry, and then a second time from Jumbo, when he opens the door. Tom is puzzled and peeks inside when he opens the door again. When Jumbo is seen on the other side, Tom shuts the door in an instant. Tom grabs a baseball bat, looking to beat up Jumbo, but instead gets his foot smashed by Jerry again. The fourth time Tom opens the door, he is met by Jumbo. He is just as big as Tom, so Tom backs up, and then Jumbo punches Tom with his trunk. Tom is thrown into a desk. Tom opens the door for a fifth time and hides behind it, shaking. But he finds no one there: They have fled. He then hears a crashing sound and Jerry running through the halls. He runs back and forth and sees a huge Jerry on the other side (actually Jumbo). Tom is curious and runs across a second time and sees Jerry. He sighs with relief, and for confirmation, runs across a third time and sees only Jerry, but changes direction and this time, sees both Jerry and Jumbo. Tom starts to get confused and pokes his head over the wall. The first time it is Jumbo; then Jerry, then Jumbo, then Jerry. When he runs towards Jerry's mousehole and sees a huge mousehole next to Jerry's, Tom yells in fright. There is a mousetrap near Jerry's hole; Tom puts a large mousetrap near Jumbo's hole and runs off. Jumbo turns the trap around and sucks Tom into the trap and Tom can do nothing about it except watch. A lump is formed in Tom's tail. Tom chases after Jerry, who runs into another mousehole. Tom gropes for Jerry's tail, but gets Jumbo's instead. Tom loses control of Jumbo's weight and tumbles onto the stairs and gets flattened by Jumbo. Tom now resorts to attempting to shoot. He just misses Jerry in the attempt. Jumbo hides and Tom goes after Jerry instead. Just then, papa elephant pokes his head through the window and hugs his son. When he sees more shots narrowly miss Jumbo, he scoops him up as Tom continues to shoot at Jerry. Jerry runs outside and hears whistling. Jumbo is behind the garage with a paintbrush and motions for Jerry to join him. Tom chases after him and Jerry jumps out, followed by Jumbo and papa elephant, decked out in mouse colors too. The gun droops down as if it were a piece of spaghetti. Tom believes that he is insane and runs off manically.

A baby elephant (named Jumbo) falls from a passing train into a house, and, as luck would have it, right into Tom's basket. Jumbo hides himself with Tom's blanket as Tom stretches and goes to sleep. Tom pushes part of Jumbo down such that his trunk is showing, but Jumbo pulls it back such that Tom, (who is dead tired), pays no attention. Now clear, Jumbo steps out of the basket and runs around with Tom on top of him, causing the cat to bump his head on a cabinet. Tom is confused, but goes back to sleep in his basket again.

Jumbo is revealed to have a strong suction; he can draw things towards him by contracting his trunk. He demonstrates this by sucking up all of Tom's milk from 15 feet away, waking the cat up again. As Tom storms into the kitchen after Jerry, Jumbo hides. Tom peeks back and gasps as he gets closer to the trap, but before breaking away to get something to have, or even grabbing onto something that will help him to escape the suction, he is unable to break away from the suction, and gets caught in the trap, leading to his tail being formed into a bump. Tom lets out a super loud scream and looks at his tail, which is in the form of the bump.

Now, the chases after Jerry, who runs into another mousehole. Tom gropes for Jerry's tail, but Jumbo sticks out instead. Tom loses control of Jumbo's weight and tumbles onto the stairs with Jumbo on top of him.

With everything else exhausted, Tom brings a gun (but it is not shown) and attempts to shoot the baby elephant, and just misses Jerry in the attempt. Jumbo hides, leading to Tom going after Jerry with the gun. Just then, Jumbo's mother pokes her head through the window and hugs her son. When she sees more shots narrowly miss Jumbo, she scoops him up as Tom continues to shoot at Jerry. Jerry runs outside and sees Jumbo in the garage with a paintbrush, motioning for Jerry to join him. Tom follows the mouse towards the garage and points the gun forward. Jerry jumps out, followed by Jumbo and his mother, decked out in mouse colors too. Upon seeing this terrifying display, Tom's gun droops down as if it were like string or a piece of spaghetti and the cat, (having gone insane), laughs nervously while mimicking the sizes of Jerry and the two elephants, and then runs off manically with him breaking through walls and fences.

Goofs/Mistakes/Notes/Trivia

• When Tom runs away at the end of the cartoon, there is a slight jump in the animation where Tom jerks back a few frames before returning to his correct position.

• This is the 74th episode of Tom and Jerry cartoons, from the 75th episode Johann Mouse.

• When Tom runs away before breaking fences and bricks, he changes places where he was before and he runs away.

• When Jumbo's mother finds him, the curtains were red instead of blue in the beginning.

• The episode titlescreen card to this is similarly used to the one of Jerry and the Lion.

• This hasn't had any light-grey stripe separating his eyes, except in That's My Pup (76th) and Just Ducky (77th).

• This is the last cartoon in which Tom has a light-grey stripe separating his eyes.
