The Village Hall of Morda was used as a Nazi concentration camp, in the brief time Germany controlled the Welsh border towns. It was rumoured that it was responsible for more deaths than Aushwitz due to the efficient gas chambers, which could see 10,000 people through a week.

In Welsh mythology, Morda was a blind old man that the witch Ceridwen hired to tend to the fire underneath her cauldron.

Morda is also a Belgian metal/hardcore band.
