:Hi BlueValour, this was a difficult call but a clear delete based on the arguments. I always suggest a ] for any delete call that I make that is questioned. In my opinion, notability rested on the argument raised that he was a trainee at Oldham (where he started 5 times in 4 years) and that all of his other starts were in semi-professional leagues. This was not refuted in the AfD and was backed by the link. The question is whether someone who was a trainee on a professional team makes the ] cut that you've summarized above. I didn't think so based on the arguments. -- ] 02:26, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi, this is to tell you that User:Dbachmann is an epitome of Racism and as such it is our dharam to boycott him. Just like we did to foriegn clothes in freedom struggle. We must boycott him. He called Indians "shi***le". So please, boycott him and send this message to everyone. - Gary Haiks 10:46, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Samir. How is DYK being archived at the moment, by bot or manually? --Peta 23:22, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Heartiest Congratulations

Congratulations on passing the Royal College exams!! Well, maybe now you can focus on the nitty gritty of setting up a practice or joining an institution as tenure-track faculty, eh? I appreciate the excellent wiki stuff that you have contributed, awesome indeed :-) EyeMD 05:38, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

User:152.12.4.15 has vandalised the Binaca Geetmala lists, could you please taken proper admin steps to stop the vandal. Also, I am in the process of trying to manually revert the editings - if you know an automated process to revert prior to his vandalism, please let me know. Otherwise, just a single list Binaca_Geetmala_annual_list_1979 took me half an hour of figuring out what was going on.. and then to revert, meant lot of copy-pasting from revision history and what not.... this is taking too long for me... yelp! EyeMD 19:42, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
Finally, I am done with the restoration of the pages and cross-linking. Took me two and a half hours! Well, I need few timbits and a double-double, and while you are at it, could you also get me some Wendy's chilli too, please!! This User:152.12.4.15 IP needs to be blocked though - he messed up so many pages!!! EyeMD 21:22, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations from me too - very late - what does this do for you by the way. Heartiest Congratulations from me too! Sorry for the extreeemly delayed wishes, I've been quite busy with my exams (which are still going on *sob*). Full-body scan

Thanks for helping on the Full-body scan. I fear I may have come off as beligerent at the beginning but it was never my intention to be combative. In fact, a kind of funny accident was my edit summary towards the start "feel free to read POV, but I'm removing it for now", was supposed to say readd, not read. Who'd have though one letter could make a comment vastly more condescending. Anyway, by your actions this is now one of the better articles on wikipedia, thanks. Ban me, please.

I use Misplaced Pages a lot and love it. I'm completely against vandalism. I recently saw that I had received another warning for vandalism.

This is a school computer and the IP I'm listed under should be the IP of the school's network. Feel free to completely block it from editing any wiki. I use wikipedia for everything and I hate seeing it screwed up by a bunch of kids! 204.184.155.187 18:10, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Re: Too Hot

Sorry for the late reply. That is really cool! It's funny listening to Alanis' later albums after hearings songs like "Too Hot" and "Walk Away"; I have her first two albums now (I had to resort to downloading them; apparently they're out of circulation) and they're complete guilty pleasures in a way. "My name is Alanis/I'm a white chick singer"...if only I'd been a teenager in Canada when this music was popular. :) Extraordinary Machine 22:24, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Can you undelete Image:96 logo.gif? It is used on the page 84th Grey Cup, but there is some issue with images that has to due with leading or trailing spaces that I don't understand that causes the image not to show up. I think I fixed the issue now. Tnikkel 22:18, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Falun Gong Pages

There is a heated revert war on Falun Gong, Li Hongzhi, Falun Gong Teachings and Suppression of Falun Gong pages. Some editors have violated the 3RR. Editors on both sides do not seem to be able to come to an agreement, can you provide guidance or protect the page so they can talk again instead of reverting?--Kent8888 20:22, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

BadGut website

I saw that User:Sirprojects went and populated gastrointesinal articles with links to http://www.badgut.com (Canadian Society Of Intestinal Research) (see contibutions). A quick look at the links shows that they are to the relevant specific topics at that site, e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Dyspepsia&diff=79511377&oldid=79188315 and badgut seems to at least be reasonably full in its descriptions. So two questions that I think you might be better able to judge:

  1. The information whilst good, is without references (although to be fair, the webpages do offer the reader to contact the charity to be sent further information). So do they really "add infomation" to that already in the articles and merit being an external link ?
  2. I find Sirprojects' repeated descrption of "<link> Free information provided by a registered charity, the Canadian Society of Intestinal Research" awkward. I was tempted just to cut to "Canadian Society of Intestinal Research", but if this is a particular respected Canadian research funding/education body then perhaps some description of "worth" of the site should be made. Clearly as a UK GP I have never heard of "Canadian Society of Intestinal Research" nor have any idea how notable/important it might be... care to comment ? :-) Yours David Ruben 22:38, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Usman Farooq

You indef-blocked Usman Farooq (talkcontribspage movesblock userblock log) based on some circumstantial evidence, but U.F. denies being MaverickInUrFace (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), and this is a plausible denial. I requested CheckUser but they declined (maybe I should have taken a shrubbery). What is your view on unblocking? The threatening post by MaverickInUrFace was pretty lame anyway, IMO. Guy 12:43, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Valarauka has looked into this in some detail and supports unblocking; CheckUser was declined. I will unblock, if that's all the same to you, as the connection seems somewhat tenuous and the user is showing reason rather than the usual hysteria. Guy 07:47, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Samir you said that article may be semi-protected but he is doing the same thing in many articles and he has not bored yet since May 2006. For now, blocking and reverting seem to be the best solution. --Ugur Basak 11:25, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Reg my article 3 Ds of drinking

Hi Samir,

I wrote this article 'Three Ds of drinking' #REDIRECT 3Ds but it was deleted by you. I have discussed this with fellow people who drink and they said this was true. Can you pls correct it and update if you would like to. The article was as follows

The three Ds of Drinking namely Diet, Dilution and Duration are considered to be a informal thumbrule for drinking.

Diet It is always advisable to drink after you have had your meal. But if you want to get high quickly, you can drink without having a meal.

Duration Duration is the time for which one drinks. It is common sense that if you spread your drinking time for quite a while, you can enjoy it and also drink more.

Dilution Dilution goes hand in hand with Duration. If you want to drink more and also enjoy it, start with a mild (diluted) peg and then graduadly increase the concentration.

Thanks, Senthil

Encyclopedia Dramatica

Hi,

Just wondering why on earth is it not possible to have an article on Encyclopedia Dramatica? I've discovered Encyclopedia Dramatica and Misplaced Pages recently, and think they are both great! But I can't find an answer anywhere. Since you apparently hold the power over it being deleted, or whatever the deal is, perhaps you can clue me in? Encyclopedia Dramatica is a pretty weird site, and looked here on Misplaced Pages to get some genral information on it (like I do for just about everything), but its blocked? Why? I don't understand

Kelly Ellard

Since you've reverted the article so that it includes Reena's ethnicity I expect that you'll provide a citation on why that's important to the case. Not only that you need to word it so that the crime doesn't come across as a hate crime, or that Ellard was a racist. Do this promptly or I will revert it again. oesophagitis

hi samir, after reading one of your article and noticed that you're specialised in the digestive system, am taking this liberty to ask you a question which's bothering me for years, Is Oesophagitis curable? i have been diagnosed with that particular disease in 1982, and i have taking antacid since then, in the past i used to take some french medicines, Phosphalugel, Malox, but nowadays i take Gaviscon liquid, it does relieve symptoms but the heartburn and pain keeps coming back, prior to 1982 i used to enjoy eating chillies and hot & spicy food, something that i cannot do anymore, everytime i take the risk of eating hot food the pain gets worse. i look forward to read your answer on this issue faithfully yours. mustapha sw_londres@hotmail.com

delete/protect old username

Hi, Samir! You don't recognize me, but I was BaseballBaby in my past Wiki-life. I took the plunge and asked for a new username because of anonymity concerns. Could you, as an admin, delete and protect User:BaseballBaby and User:Baseball Baby? I created the latter account a couple of months after I registered the first to prevent impersonation – I remember seeing a suggestion somewhere to do so and it seemed prudent, so I did. If you need me to verify it by logging in as the latter, let me know and I will.

I love the BNL anecdote on your userpage! You just know Ed has used that in an ad lib somewhere, but at least you haven't been immortalized like the old lady wanting directions to the Bryant Street Theater. :-) I'm really, really bummed that they're not touring close enough to me this fall – I've seen them four times – but I have lots of buddies on barenaked.net who will send photos and phone love. (Yeah, I'm one of those BNL fans. :-D) I'm not digging BLAM, though – Rolling Stone called it "Dad rock," which had to hurt the guys, but I can't disagree too much with the label. Maybe the album will grow on me... I didn't like Automatic for the People either at first and now I love it, but I hope BNL's next album rocks instead of snoozes.

My husband and I were injured in an MVA a few weeks ago and both of us have been in outpatient PT (love cervical traction & massage – I wish I could keep doing it!), but I should be back regularly in another week or so. Thanks very much for your help! KrakatoaKatie 20:39, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi again - I have another request that I should have made at the same time. I moved my old talk page to my new one as I was instructed, and I haven't logged on since I made the change. Tonight when I got here, I found that an anon IP editor recreated my old talk page with old content from my old _user_ page. I blanked it again tonight, but can you delete User talk:BaseballBaby and User talk:Baseball Baby when you get a chance? I can't believe I forgot to mention my talk pages (this is why I don't work on the floor while taking muscle relaxants!) but what troubles me more is that someone may actually try to impersonate me. I also noticed that User:BaseballBaby is _not_ protected from recreation, and given this slightly unsettling development I think it and the talk pages should all be protected from future recreation, in the manner in which I've seen other user pages and articles protected from recreation. If you can't do that, let me know and I'll scour around for a bureaucrat. Thanks again - KrakatoaKatie 08:24, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Your unwarranted remark

Here's one for the One-who-cannot-be-trolled! — Nearly Headless Nick 15:47, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey user, your out-of-place remark is in poor taste and in bad faith. Do you know Malayalam and the meaning of the word to guess that it is obscene? Or did you rely on the opinion of two users who looked at once credit-worthy because they cried foul on somebody's user name? If that is the case, you are relying on somebody who in turn relies on ignorance ("I didn't know the other meanings for it"). I can let you know that the two users concerned have plainly refused to look up the word in a local language dictionary and never denied the fact that it is a proper name among the scheduled castes of Kerala. Ignorance, lack of receptiveness, élitism and disdain for the peripheral lives- you have been party to them. And one user who googled the word in question and found that it meant a very loose cunt in some Icelandic language epitomises the wisdom of your ilk. Kundan After Sundown 18:15, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey troll. Here's elitism for you: I don't give any credence to anything you have to say. Go away and troll elsewhere. I suggest LiveJournal -- Samir धर्म 23:13, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
I have reported your personal attack here. Kundan After Sundown 04:44, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Good for you. Happy to see that it too was removed. -- Samir धर्म 05:35, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
FYI, this was the trolling that started it: Highly inappropriate, especially on an RfA. Also, accusing me of bad faith in dealing with you, when you talk about cooking the goose on a unanimous RfA? Really think that's appropriate? Add to that these niceties: "Who the hell is this guy? Haven't heard of such a celebrity as yet. I am fairly familiar with the mass media in Kerala. The pathetically written article looks like a sexed up C.V. and looks pretty trashy at places." (which is a blatant policy violation of WP:BLP and would warrant a block in and of itself) andCan you understand English? ... This would mean to anybody who can read and understand English... Be aware that I'm fully willing to take administrative action should your trolling continue. -- Samir धर्म 05:38, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
You are bending policies and guidelines to suit your purpose. And you have taken my comments out of their contexts (where they were never thought inappropriate, until you unearthed them for your purpose) to chide me and brandish your power to ban. Granted that my comment on the RfA page was inappropriate, does that give you any right to pass disparaging comments on me and call me a troll and ask me to quit? Your expression of willingness "to take administrative action" is flagrant usurpation of the trust bestowed on you by the community. Kundan After Sundown 06:18, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
No one is bending policy. Your edits speak for themselves. Be advised that if you continue with tendentious edits, you will be blocked under WP:BP. Consider the same to be a final warning -- Samir धर्म 06:21, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
I second Samir's warning. You are undoubtedly trolling and continuing to do so you will be blocked. --Srikeit 06:45, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
You resort to personal attack and you call me names. Even if you are true in your accusations against you, your wrong stands above mine. You are an administrator and you know the WP policies and you trample them down and assume that you come out clean and warn me about blocking. Sounds like a great joke. It would be a disgrace on Misplaced Pages if administrative abuse is allowed to continue in this vein. You can block to your heart's content, if that will hep to wash out the ignominy of your blatant abuse. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kundan After Sundown (talkcontribs)
You're a funny guy. I suggest a career in comedy. -- Samir धर्म 16:37, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi Samir. I do do not think you are dealing (as an admin) with this situation in the best possible way. You have a right to feel that user:Kundan After Sundown’s remarks at the RFA are inappropriate. But there was no need for name calling. WP:NPA says clearly that "There is a subtle difference between "You are a troll" and "You are acting like a troll", but "You seem to be making statements to provoke people" is even better, as it means the same without descending to name-calling. ". Isn't it our policy to "comment on comment ; not on user"? Later you quoted a few remarks by user:Kundan After Sundown to support your claim that user:Kundan After Sundown is a troll. I think, it would have been better if you had done this earlier ( rather than doing it after it lead to a conflict). Are you sure that those remarks you quoted are violation of WP:BLP , since they are comments in the talk page and not edits in any article. (They are inappropriate, of course) Is it proper to threaten to take administrative action against someone with whom (and while) you are engaged in a conflict? If you feel administrative action is necessary, give proper (and specific) warning in the talk page of the user. It is always better to use warning templates, in its proper sequence and citing the specific reasons. You first called this user a troll, then asked him to leave wikipedia and refused to discuss and then cited reasons for you action. This RFA gave me a chance to look at the edits of User:Deepujoseph . In contrast, I see that Deepu has shown great restraint and strict adherence to policies even when he was personally attacked. As an administrator, the community expects you to set models for dealing with conflict and difficult users. Please do not create an impression of administrative abuse.(These comments are slightly modified version of my earlier comments. see the page history)Clt13 09:42, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

I would like to quote this from WP:DFTT.

  • Administrators are not empowered to block usernames for "trolling".
  • When you try to decide if someone is a troll, strive to assume they are not. Explain errors politely and reasonably; point them towards policies, the manual of style and relevant past discussions. Don't conclude they are a troll until they have shown complete inability or unwillingness to listen to reason or to moderate their position based upon the input of others. Even in that case, it is likely better to remain silent and let others conclude the obvious instead of calling someone a troll and creating even more mayhem.

and this from WP:BNTV

  • Do not insult the vandals. Most vandals are either newbies who don't know any better, or true vandals and trolls. Getting angry and insulting, deriding them, or verbally assaulting them will either alienate potentially useful future users if the former, or play right into their wishes if the latter."

Clt13 10:15, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry for landing here. I just wanted to add in response to comments by Clt13 that some time(s) it would be in the interest of wikipedia, in the longer run, to ignore all rules, and save the Project's resources from meaningless discussion and the instruction creep. --Bhadani 15:26, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
  • You know how policies are adopted in wikipedia. ( after much thought, considering many possible abuses and based on consensus) If you are ignoring a guidline, you have to admit it first and justify it. We have a very clear policy regarding how to deal with trolls, vandals, impolite users, etc. You need to ignore this rule, only if someone is making use of the loop holes in the policies. In this case there was no need for it. When you talk to some one ( even to a vandal) as if you are talking on behalf of wikipedia, you have to adhere to wikipedia policies. ( That is why these policies/ guidelines have been adopted). What I quoted shows that, in this case, the action of this admin, is against our policies. My intervention was to clarify this; not to propmote trolling. If my action was promoting trolling, you can direct that criticism acgainst our policies as well. Clt13 11:20, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
I hope that was an impromptu speech by Clt13. You need to check the history of this user and the articles that he has created only for disruption. He chose that username only for trolling. End of the matter. — Nearly Headless Nick 15:50, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
      • I respect you right to have an opinion. But there is no voting going on here. It will be helpful if you say something related to the specific questions I have raised . Clt13 11:20, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
        • Why are you sticking up for trolling? Putting a question on Deepu's RfA about this matter was over the top. You've said your piece, now don't feed the trolls yourself by continuing to back them up -- Samir धर्म 23:47, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
          • Finally, to Clt13, if someone trolls an RfA by mocking the good faith contributions of an excellent contributor, they have what's coming to them. If they then scoff at being treated the same way, supporting the troll and clamoring they've been wronged as a result is tantamount to supporting trolling. I don't suggest that you do it -- Samir धर्म 00:02, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

That clarifies it. You treated this user the same way. I saw no difference. I was not discussing the action of that user. I found you ( an admin ) no different from that user. My ponit was about the way you reacted. Just one more thing. This is a very personal opinion of an ordinary user (who , when offended, cannot threaten with blocks and bans, who has no buddies among admins to vouch for ): The damage that vandals and trolls can cause is limited to a few articles. Oh get off your high horse. You are writing here to support a troll. That is what is destroying wikipedia, but you don't seem to get it. Re: RfA

Here's another offer. Don't it feel good to be popular? -- Samir धर्म 00:32, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Hmm... even though my time is being freed up, I'm still going to wait for my semi-wikibreak to conclude. However, that makes you, CrazyRussian, Blnguyen, Aguerriero, Chacor, Yanksox (offered in August), and possibly Kingboyk (offered in August but suggested I wait until six months after RfA 2). Even if all of you don't go through with your co-nominations, I am quite honored so many offers have been made at all. -- tariqabjotu 02:55, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Vitamin U

Hey there... Do you really believe that the ulcers symptomatic of UC are not benifited from Vitamin U (methylmethioninesulfonium chloride, MMSC)?

Studies show that Vitamin U helps to prevents and can revert ulcer damage in gastric tissues.

The cause of UC may be debated (is it autoimmune, etc); but the symptoms can be significantly lessened by MMSC.

Please double check these links, or search a bit more on PubMed about MMSC and UC:

Quoted: "Role of sulphydryl-containing agents in the management of recurrent attacks of ulcerative colitis. A new approach."

Quote: "This double-blind randomised study investigated the role of sulphydryl-containing agents in the management of recurrent attacks of ulcerative colitis. ... These results demonstrate that sulphydryl-containing agents play a key role in the treatment of and protection against ulcerative colitis."

Request for Help!

Hi Samir,

I’m sending this message out to about 4-5 people I’ve worked with here on Misplaced Pages. Its not a blind carbon copy to 1000 people. Sorry its only partially wiki-related...

Basically as you probably know I make a lot of diagrams for use on Misplaced Pages in my spare time while studying a Biochemistry BSc (hons) degree at the University of Sussex in the UK. Next year (in my final year) I’m planning on starting up a medical graphics company. Its been suggested to me more than once that some of my diagrams are as good as, if not better than those presently in research papers and text books, so it seems like a good logical progression (and more so something I enjoy!) to start up a company producing them.

But without a reputation, and as a nameless student work will be stagnant or non-existent. So I’m desperately trying to make a small name for myself and to build a credible reputation as both a scientist and artist. So to cut to the chase what I’m messaging people about is just to say please please please, if you or any of your colleagues are publishing research articles/text books etc. and need bespoke diagrams please get them in touch, I would be forever grateful! I’m very very happy to do the jobs for free as I enjoy them anyway and the exposure would help me no end! They have nothing to lose, if they don’t like what I produce its not like they paid for it, and are under no obligation to use it. I can’t stress how helpful a diagram in a published work would be for me. I do have a portfolio of generally better work than the pics here on Misplaced Pages, but examples to show colleagues are those such as:

”Caeliac Disease, Upper Jejunal Mucoasl Immunopathology”

Anyway, as always if you need any diagrams done here on Misplaced Pages, I’m an email away! If you do by any chance know of anyone seeking a scientist/artist then please be sure to get them onto me! (My email is nick-daines<at>hotmail.com). Thanks!

I believe the decision to delete this article was made in error, so I have asked for a deletion review. Since you were involved in the AfD on this, I wanted to inform you so that you might weigh in. PT 17:31, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Post Election Selection Trauma Deletion

I was wondering if you could elaborate on you decision to delete this article. While I agree this concept is not the most significant. However I have been studying the concept of consensus as it is understood both within WP and in other contexts. It would seem to me that consensus has not been reached if dissenting points of view have not been adequately addressed. Based on the deletion policies here, unless the article violates one of the big three then the arguments to keep an article have far greater weight than those for delete. I do not feel that there was consensus in this AfD, the keep arguments were not adequately addressed by those who wished to delete the article. Thank you for your response. Ratherhaveaheart 19:45, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Ratherhaveaheart. I saw consensus on the AfD (certainly was majority), and specifically, did not see any evidence that there was substantial coverage in media and other sources. GabrielF commented on it not being an academic term, to which I add that it's not a DSM-IV diagnosis or contained in PubMed; this has not been disputed. As such, notability of the term is defined by sources that reference it, of which, the argument raised was that they were insufficient to upgrade it beyond what is commonly considered as a neologism (an argument that was not substantially refuted). Hope this explains things; you are, of course, more than welcome to call for a deletion review if it does not -- Samir धर्म 00:12, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks and a question

Thanks for the welcome and tips. A question: the difficulty in creating references for medical articles, or any other article, is very important. Although the ability to create PubMed URLs using Misplaced Pages:Citing_sources/example_style#Medical_journal_abstracts helps, Misplaced Pages:Footnotes is very tedious. Are there plans for improvements such as described in Misplaced Pages:Footnote2? - Thanks Badgettrg 03:52, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

PUD and H. Pylori

Hi Samir - Thanks for your comments about the timeline. You did make the critical error of admitting you know something about this stuff. :) I'm writing a more detailed history of PUD and H. pylori for my dissertation, which I hope to add here once it's finished. I had a question, which perhaps you can answer. (I asked the Reference Desk, but didn't get a great answer.) Palmer's study in 1954 didn't find H. pylori in the stomach because he failed to use the silver staining technique (or so I'm told). I would like to know two things. (1) Why exactly does H. pylori only show up clearly using this technique? (At the RD I got the generic "somethings take up different stains" answer, which I understand.) (2) Would not using this technique represent a serious error by Palmer? (I.e. Were there lots of bacteria which only showed up using this technique that were known about in the 50s? Did everyone use this technique when doing histological studies in the 50s? etc.) No problem if you don't have time to give me a detailed answer, we're all busy. Thanks again for all your help! --best, kevin 06:23, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Samir - Great! Thanks for all the details. I really appreciate it, as I'll be talking about this case in Vancouver next week (the philosophy of science association meeting). --best, kevin 19:40, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Gdutmers. Do you think the lists would work better as separate articles or as part of the main article? Personally I think main article, but we'll go with what you think is more appropriate -- Samir धर्म 21:30, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Samir. I hope I've figured out how to communicate with you using proper Wikietiquette! :-) I assume that the person who added the lists made them separate articles so as to reduce the amount of scrolling necessary to read the main article. I agree with you that if the lists are included at all, they should be part of the main article rather than separate articles. I'm trying to decide if they are even necessary. I'm not sure that the names of buildings really have much usefulness to readers of the article unless they are attending or did attend the university. What do you think? Ryan Sugden

I wonder if you could elaborate on your reasoning for closing the above AFD as delete. Whilst I understand it is not a vote per se, I count 10 deletes and 10 keeps, plus the article meets the standard for sportspeople at WP:BIO, which makes a good case for there being no consensus. Catchpole 09:43, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Just saw this posted to your page and have looked over the AFD, and I'd concur that it should've been no consensus. – Chacor 10:06, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Happy to elaborate... but please bring up a DRV as this was a difficult call but a clear delete based on the arguments. In my opinion, the argument raised that he was a trainee at Oldham (where he started 5 times in 4 years) and all of his other starts were in semi-professional leagues was not refuted and was backed by the soccerbase link. This is the strongest argument in the AfD, as it is the only one that attempts to define notability per WP:BIO. I'm swayed by arguments on notability as opposed to determining notability based on !vote counts on AfD's. Hope this explains things -- Samir धर्म 11:26, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Okay, thank you. I just noticed that the article has been re-created anyway - see Ryan Sugden. I have to go now, I'll decide if it's worth DRV later tonight. Catchpole 11:55, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

When I started my second editor review, I had no idea how greatly helpful it would be to me. Here are people from across the world who I've never met or laid eyes upon, taking their personal time to think about me and offer me valuable criticism and advice. Please don't be taken in by Timmy12

  • He's been removing citations from multiple pages: , , , , , , , ,
  • These citations exist because other editors insisted that they needed a citation.
  • He has an outstanding checkuser request with strong evidence that he is a sock of Mattisse:
  • Both users have followed Rosencomet around and used tagging, citations requests, and now removal of the citations provided to harass said user.

Ekajati (yakity-yak) 22:00, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

No problem. Mattisse and her puppets are very good at mock tears over how mean WP is to her. Which of course is b/c she is tagging articles by the metric truckload.... and doesn't get why multiple unrelated editors are annoyed with her. Thinks it's a conspiracy. Soon to be permabanned, I suspect. Ekajati (yakity-yak) 22:07, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

The vandalism warning is back on my page after you removed it

This time there is a list of articles, each one I removed the commercial link from. Is this behavior that I can be blocked for? These people have harassed me since I joined Misplaced Pages on September 8. Take a look at my talk page. The harassment is preventing me from functioning here, but I don't know what to do. I have an incident on Administrators' borard Harassment by Hanuman Das and Ekajaki.

However, the same person who refused to remove the warnings from my page, just before you agreed to do so, just wrote on my complaint that I should take it somewhere else. But where? How does a person handle long term chronic harassment that will not stop? Timmy12 23:49, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

If you think you're being wronged, mediation or RfC. Otherwise, I don't think anyone will mind if you archive the warnings -- Samir धर्म 00:04, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
A kind person actually read the edits listed as vandalism and saw they were fine edits. What a great guy. No, if I had archived them User:Ekajati would surely have had me banned. He and User:Hanuman Das would have seen to it. It is a rare person around here that is willing to stand up to them for some reason. I don't quite understand it but it is true. Even you left an apology on his talk page. Maybe they actually own the place! Timmy12 00:30, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Ryan Sugden

Please take another look at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Ryan Sugden. The 'votes' were evenly split so this should have been a no concensus unless there was a strong balance of argument in favour of delete. This was not the case - the guy has played for Oldham Athletic in the English Football League and so meets WP:BIO as Sportspeople/athletes/competitors who have played in a fully professional league ... Articles about first team squad members who have not made a first team appearance may also be appropriate, but only if the individual is at a club of sufficient stature that most members of its squad are worthy of articles.. He meets both parts of this guideline. BlueValour 01:48, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi BlueValour, this was a difficult call but a clear delete based on the arguments. I always suggest a deletion review for any delete call that I make that is questioned. In my opinion, notability rested on the argument raised that he was a trainee at Oldham (where he started 5 times in 4 years) and that all of his other starts were in semi-professional leagues. This was not refuted in the AfD and was backed by the soccerbase link. The question is whether someone who was a trainee on a professional team makes the WP:BIO cut that you've summarized above. I didn't think so based on the arguments. -- Samir धर्म 02:26, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
