Shirley Phelps-Roper is the daughter of Fred Phelps, the leader of the Westboro Baptist Church. She has received recent media coverage in Fox News, The Howard Stern Show, The Adam Corolla Show) for her aggressive preaching and campaigns. Phelps-Roper received both B.A. and J.D. degrees from Washburn University and currently practices with Phelps Chartered, the Phelps family's law firm .
Following the murders of four Amish schoolgirls in Pennsylvania, Westboro Baptist Church announced that it would be picketing the funeral. Having learned of this, radio talk show host and Fox News analyst Mike Gallagher offered them air-time on his radio show in exchange for not protesting at the girl's funerals. They accepted, and Shirley Phelps-Roper and her sister were granted an hour of air-time on the show. Shirley was asked by an interviewer for Fox News if she thought that the girls deserved to die. She responded: "Yes. It's kinder to kill them in their youth than it is for you to let them be full grown, and full-on - to make their stint in Hell so much more painful.".
Shirley Phelps-Roper has recieved increased media coverage and popularity following numerous television appearences (many of which have been on Fox News). She recently appeared on The Tyra Banks Show with two of her daughters.
