Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Lifespring (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-Protection - I requested this earlier, and it was removed for some reason, without either being confirmed or denied. There are several people who are vandalising this page, removing paragraphs with multiple sources, simply because they don't like the content. It is not possible to discuss this with them, since one is an anon IP address. Both users have been warned multiple times. It is becoming frustrating, since when I revert the page to the unvandalised form, I lose all of the copy edits. A little help would be sincerely appreciated. Jeffpw 11:24, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Declined. Semi-protection will not solve this problem. -- Steel 12:09, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Well then, what will????????????????? The removal of sourced information by anonymous users who won't discuss the changes seems like vandalism to me. What would you suggest?????????? It is now happening multiple times a day. I have now tried to get the users blocked. Jeffpw 15:54, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- It's not only anons removing that section. It's also a good faith effort, not vandalism. There is no real edit warring occurring, and you've put a lot of effort into improving the article these last few days, so full protection isn't an option. -- Steel 17:15, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
You Are What You Eat (UK TV Show) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-Protection - IP account continues to insert potentially libellous information without references. Addhoc 13:11, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- There is not enough recent activity to justify protection at this time. Just watchlist and revert any vandalism. WinHunter 14:06, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Operation Gladio (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
This article is being protected to keep a POV and unsourced version of history. IT needs to be unlocked so that sourcing and writing can be improved. --Tbeatty 15:26, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Not unprotected due to revert warring. See m:The Wrong Version. -- Steel 15:28, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Michael Ignatieff (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
The article was protected 3 weeks ago to deal with problem editors who have since been blocked or quit editing even the talk page. At least 2 editors who were not involved in any problems and who have not been accused of any wrongdoing have requested the article be unprotected; The administrator, SarahEwart, is keeping a watchful eye on the article so if any problems recurr she can quickly protect it again if necessary but for now it should be unprotected as there are numerous important current developments related to Michael Ignatieff which are being left out of wikipedia because of the protection. 65.95.151.230 14:24, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Unprotected Shyam 15:00, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- ottawaman, you are evading a block. Please do not speak on my behalf. If other editors who are not currently evading their block wish to make changes to the article, they can do so via the talk page. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 16:52, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
User_talk:24.148.66.9 (edit | ] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
Playstation 3 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
The Playstation 3 page has been vandalized yet it appears to be protected.
- The thing is that the original article PlayStation 3 which has been protected and not the above redirect page. I've just protected it. -- Szvest 14:33, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Fully protected. This is just to make sure the bot archives this. -- Steel 16:25, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Fulfilled/denied requests
Hephthalite (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Requesting Full Protection due to heavy edit waring, until all the disputes have been solved on the talk page. --Mardavich 12:38, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Fully protected, along with a few other pages. -- Steel 12:55, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Operation Gladio (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Protection - Has been a consistent target of edit warring, complete with numerous blankings of sourced material, and hoax tags. Page was protected by admin Seabhcan to give editors a chance to work out issues of sourcing reliability on talk rather than by edit war. A user complained at the protection, because protecting admin had made an edit, Misplaced Pages:Administrators'_noticeboard#Operation_Gladio. Admin Centrx unprotected based on that complaint. Regardless of the process, the protect was a good idea. We should sort out disputes about sourcing reliability through discussion, not through the revert button. The discussion was becoming productive imho, once the edit-warring and blanking was stopped, but it is nowhere near finished. Derex 08:16, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- I would suggest you don't revert if you don't like revert wars. The article should remain unprotected so that approriate source tags and informaiton can be added. You reverted an edit that added tags while saying it was being hashed out in talk. Also, the particular revert you did was only about style as no information was actually lost. And as I recall, the blanking done by a different editor was a WP:POINT violation, not an actual attempt at removing material. --Tbeatty 08:26, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Operation Gladio (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
It's protected over a content dispute by an admin who appears to be excersing ownership over the article. He disagrees with edits and content so he reverted to the version he likes and fully protected the page. Please unprotect it so we can continue to improve it. It is severely lacking in a number of sections and areas. Tbeatty 04:29, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Unprotected —Centrx→talk • 07:19, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Snoop Dogg (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection - Has been consistently vandalised by IPs and new users for weeks now. Anom8trw8 07:09, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Declined. There is only one anonymous user he is continuously vandalising. Please warn that user, if the user continuously vandalises then please post for admin's intervantion Shyam 08:25, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages:Reliable sources (edit | ] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
WP:RS was protected due to a minor revert war as to whether the page should remain a guideline or be demoted to Essay status. After discussion (and even a straw poll) the issue seems to have been resolved and a consensus reached (Keep as a guideline but do a major overhaul). To that end, the page should be unprotected so editing may continue. Blueboar 18:20, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Wii (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-Protection, this is the second time in a week that semi-protection was dropped, and this is the second time in a week that Wii is being bombarded by vandals. Please put it back up, and keep it there until Christmas. —Shanesan (contribs) (Talk) 06:17, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Platinum (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection due to daily vandalism (nonsense and page blanking) by anonymous editors, multiple times per day. Every 2nd or 3rd editor who comes in vandalises the article. Edit history shows a clear pattern of: vandalize (1 or more times), revert, vandalize (1 or more times), revert, and so on, at least once every day. -Axlq 06:11, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Tony Romo (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection Due to Romo's increasing popularity, and his name rhyming with "Homo" many find the need to vandalize this page. The page is vandalized at least once a day mostly by IPs. Temporary protection might help this. see the edit history--aviper2k7 05:26, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. -- Steel 23:34, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Vespa (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection - This article has had a lot work to create a much improved article, but resultantly now attracts a number of Anon editors who add numerous SPAM, wholly commercial and non-useful links. A group of editors have had a discussion on the talk page, after the page's links are on average added to by five links per week. We don't need full protection, just to stop the anons for a while to adding their spam. Rgds, - Trident13 22:28, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. -- Steel 23:33, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Gangster (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection - This page receives a large amount of (mostly) anonymous IP vandalism, mostly obscene and nonsense. It may be a later candidate for full protect, but it is still a stub.
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. -- Steel 23:32, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Paintball (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection - This page gets an unbelievable amount of vandalism, all from non-members. Rarely do non-members add anything useful to this page. The paintball article really needs protection. --Ravenstorm 20:41, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Semi-protection - This page has received a great deal of attention from anonymous IPs, not always bad I know; the most recent edits have been to blank the page or add nonsense. Wikiwoohoo 20:21, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
