Union of Democratic Forces for Unity (French: UFDR) is the rebel group fighting against the government in the Central African Republic Civil War. The CAR has accused UFDR of being backed by the government of Sudan.
The UFDR leader, Michel Detodia, has said Central African Republic president Francois Bozize has ruled on an ethnic basis since seizing power from President Ange-Felix Patasse in March 2003. "Many people from other ethnic groups and different political parties are ostracised and banned from participating in the management of the country," he said.
