Chewbacca (or Chewie), a character in the fictional Star Wars universe, is a 7-foot tall Wookie and co-pilot of the Millenium Falcon. His characteristic groan is a form of language which only his friend Han Solo seems to understand, while Solo always speaks to Chewie in Basic (see Languages in Star Wars).
