Nick Samaras is a poet and Assistant Professor of English at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He was born in Cambridgeshire, England of Greek-American parentage. He was raised there and on the island of Patmos, Greece. His first book of poetry, Hands of the Saddlemaker received the Yale Series of Younger Poets Award in 1992. His individual poems have been featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Paris Review, Poetry, The New Republic, Kenyon Review, and many other publications. He earned his doctorate from the University of Denver.
