Sourcing

Is an acrobat file transcript of a movie stored online a citable source? If so, how should I cite it? Do I need page numbers?

Recent Deletion

The information you deleted in my update to "Fox News" is factual and from the documentary Outfoxed at around 15 minutes in.

Toon Zone

Sorry about those edits accidently leaving the donations page, little new at this still (Dr. RKZ)

September 11, 2001 attacks

This video examines public videos of the several attacks on 9/11. It demonstrates substantially different facts from the article. This IS important and deserves your review before deletion. Consider the contents of this video:

Liberal bias

Why is it "vandalism" to edit liberal non-sense ? Since when is George W. Bush is considered a member of the Christian right?

Why is this liberal lunacy allowed to continue in all impunity?

On Christian Right's persons list

What about the claim that Ann Coulter is part of the Christian Right? Her books "Slander", "Treason", and "How to Talk to a Liberal if You Must" are biased but have no religious content whatsoever. So again, how can Ann Coulter be in the Christian Right list?

got it

I'm on the discussion page.

Press contact details

If you are receiving this message, you are either a new, existing, or possible future press contact for one of the languages you speak. What does this mean, being a press contact?

The Wikimedia Foundation runs a Communications Committee, which co-ordinates requests for interviews from the press. When we receive a request for an interview, often the journalist wants to interview someone that speaks their "native tongue", or someone that lives in the same country as their publication. For this reason, it is important the the Communications Committee keeps an up-to-date log of contributors that they can trust to represent the community in a professional manner.

This list of press contacts has started to grow. The goal is to eventually have at least one trusted user on the list from every country in the world, and one user for every language that the Foundation runs a project in.

What are your responsibilities? Whenever a journalist requests an interview, either by phone, by e-mail, or (rarely) in person, you are able to either answer the interview request, or pass the request off to another user that you trust. Whenever a newsworthy milestone is reached on your project, you should help co-ordinate the creation of a press release, and once it's ready, send it to me to post in your language's press room.

Any questions, comments, or concerns? Contact me directly. -- en:user_talk:zanimum

That's the title of the Indonesian translation that you said to me. I just got it today (it was translated 2009, but last time I asked the local bookstore in my city, they still didn't carry it). Well, if I don't get the chance to translate the book, at least I got the honor to create the id.wp page :) I'll ask you to sign it on the next Wikimania :) Bennylin (talk)

Invitation

Hello! As there is a Misplaced Pages article about you, you are cordially invited to contribute a short audio recoding of your spoken voice, so that our readers may know what you sound like and how you pronounce your name. Details of how to do so, and examples, are at Misplaced Pages:Voice intro project. Please feel free to ask for help or clarification on the project talk page, or my talk page.

Page reverted

Hello,

I have searched in vain for the good path to get administrator’s help for the following issue and so I decided to send this request to some including you.

I have considerably expanded the article Guerrilla filmmaking and took care in referencing it as far as I could (over 90 links to trustful sources). I am an experienced editor of Misplaced Pages. For my surprise, the article was reverted by user CIRT to a preceding stub version mainly consisting of a very narrow list of films. Many important contents were removed. Self promotional vandalism seems to be the reason of such intervention, sustained by acute threats. I do not intend to respond with helpless and inconsequent arguments and the time I have to dedicate to Misplaced Pages is quite limited.

I’d be happy if you could pay some attention to this occurrence and let you decide whatever you think is reasonable.

My best,

User:Drrharpe33

I would like to know why you blocked User:Drrharpe33 for adding high school sports content, backed by a clearly reliable source to Kentucky town pages. The source is the Kentucky High School Athletic Association, the main organization in that state for managing high school athletics. Why was this removed from numerous pages and the user who added the content blocked? - NeutralhomerTalk • 00:28 on July 31, 2016 (UTC)

Invite to Join WikiProject for Spoken Misplaced Pages

Hi Fuzheado! I am Galendalia and I have revived the WikiProject for Spoken Misplaced Pages. I noticed that you signed up at some point to be a participant and as I am reviving this project, one of my tasks is to get the participant list in order. Would you please go to the Participants List and add your name and language(s) you speak? If you are already there and do not want to be, please remove yourself. If you want to remain, please put remain next to your name. If I do not see anything, I will move you to the inactive participant list. I am putting a timeline of 7 days on this action to help keep things moving along. It would also be great if you would be willing to join the task force for Pronunciation that would be awesome, as there are troublesome words we run into.

Thank you for considering joining us. If you decide to leave, I will be sad to see you leave as so many people have done a great job on the recordings and any work you have done makes a significant difference.

Say them then. You know better than to leave an article in that state. Why object to a redirect before you are ready to create an article? Deb (talk) 10:52, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

Don't lecture me on this. This is how Misplaced Pages works. Start with a stub and improve it. Sheesh. -- Fuzheado | Talk 11:00, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
On the contrary. Any article that doesn't have references can be deleted at any time. Deb (talk) 11:01, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
@Deb: - I'm also astonished how you can be a supporter of Women in Red and decide to 1) not improve it given her obvious notablity and 2) actively discourage its evolution. Hope you'll decide to pitch in. -- Fuzheado | Talk 11:02, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
And I'm astonished how you don't seem to be up with the current guidelines on biographies of living persons. I'm more than happy to assist but you started an article when you weren't ready and there's no reason why you should expect others to do the work. Deb (talk) 11:04, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Both of you have been around the block here at Misplaced Pages, so Fuzheado, in future, I would suggest placing the {{under construction}} template on any new stub article you create, so long as you remain improving it. Either that or create a draft to move it into article space later, or develop it in a sandbox. Wyliepedia @ 12:43, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice

Hi Fuzheado, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.

Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.

To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!

Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

If you don't mind, please keep your eye on this, as it appears to be the same editor returning. I say that because of the similarity in the names between "Action Jackson" and "Rocky", given that Carl Weathers starred in both of those movies. Regards, AzureCitizen (talk) 01:03, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Wikidata weekly summary #418

Here's your quick overview of what has been happening around Wikidata over the last week.
  • Tool of the week
    • wdumps allows you to create a limited RDF dump from Wikidata, for those times when your SPARQL queries keep timing out. It is not particularly user-friendly, and it typically takes several hours to get a complete dump, but it is the best way to for example get a list of all English names of humans in Wikidata, or a list of every scientific article with its title and DOI.
  • Other Noteworthy Stuff
    • The former WikiProject iNaturalist was renamed WikiProject Biodiversity to allow discussions beyond iNaturalist.
    • Special:FewestRevisions to be disabled, if you are currently using it, please leave a comment
    • Winners of the Wikidata competition during Museum Day 2020: VIGNERON, Alexmar983, Braveheart, Pasleim, Benoît Prieur, Uli.ch, Nono314, Sukkoria and Airon90. Congratulations!
    • As part of a thesis project, the search engine "Lister" has been developed to make it easier for the general public to access data on the Semantic Web in general, and WikiData specifically. It's in a usability test-phase right now, and if you'd like to try it out and help improve it, you can do so at this link. The test should at most 15 minutes.
    • Follow the discussion about restricting editing of properties to autoconfirmed users.
    • New domain toolforge.org to be adopted by our Toolforge community. New domain/scheme for Toolforge-hosted webservices will change from tools.wmflabs.org/toolname to toolname.toolforge.org with the aim to introduce permanent redirects for the legacy URLs on 2020-06-15.
    • Wikidata development team is currently running a survey until June 9th to understand better how people access and reuse Wikidata’s data from the code of their applications and tools (for example through APIs), and how we can improve the tools to make your workflows easier. If you would like to participate, please use this link (Google Forms, estimated fill-in time 5min).
  • Development
    • More documentation for federated properties
    • Properly display federated properties on a local item's Revision History page (phab:T249836)
    • More improvements on the Wikidata Bridge
    • Add Wikidata support for awawiki (phab:T252870)
    • Fix various bugs on Wikibase
    • Work on improving the unclear error messages (phab:T247690)
    • Create reports for the reference hunt game

Inappropriate voting

Because they were asked their opinions again.Slatersteven (talk) 15:03, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

Clarification please...

Your closure of Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Derek Chauvin (police officer) justifies speedy deletion by reference to WP:A10 and WP:BLP1E.

  1. BLP1E never used to be a speedy deletion criteria. Can you link me to the discussion when it became a speedy deletion criteria?
  2. A10 is supposed to be used for articles that duplicate existing articles. You didn't say which existing article you thought this article duplicated. Okay, which was it?
  3. I think Kire1975's point refutes BLP1E. Could you please explain why you don't accept this point refutes BLP1E? Geo Swan (talk) 02:19, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
I too would like to know the answer to these questions. Kire1975 (talk) 04:25, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
