Xylology (zaɪˈlɒlədʒɪ) is the scientific study of wood. It is somewhat similar to Dendrochronology. The word 'xylology' is a botanical term, along with being classified as a noun. Xylology deals specifically with the gross and minute structure of wood.

Etymology

The word xylology is composed of 'xylo-' (coming from the Greek word 'xylon', meaning 'wood'), and '-logy', meaning 'the study of' or 'the science of'.
