Thanks, will do. I'll try to get more screens up as soon as possible. I don't quite know what you mean by "non-English speaking/non-American info" for references however. Do you mean Australian pop culture references? If so I don't really know if I can help you on that, but I will add the section anyway. -- ] 19:09, 20 January 2007 (UTC) | Thanks, will do. Misplaced Pages:Avoid trivia sections in articles
Hello, and welcome. We try to Avoid trivia sections in articles. It sets a bad example to new users who want to add random pieces of useless tit bits, and often are copied and pasted from other sources. Please also remember to fully cite/source anything you add. The JPS 18:47, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, sorry... miscommunication. My above message was referring to Jaws The Revenge, because I've spent some time working on that. I'll look into the Die Hard article... The JPS 19:10, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
In that case, in regards to Jaws The Revenge I added the trivia section as the tidbit @ Caine is not "Critical Reaction." I'm not sure how one goes about referencing a well known event shown on live TV at the time (a live remote was set up so Caine could accept his Oscar from the location, which is what prompted Ebert to comment on it in the first place).
- The Ebert reference is good enough for us. I'll rephrase it to make it more apparent that it belong sin that section... but please no trivia. It will never be a good article while it has such a section. The JPS 19:24, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Farscape
The problem I've been having is my version of the series just numbers the episodes, so I can't tell if the second one is I, E. T. or Exodus of Genesis, because they were aired out of order. I'll look more closely at it and see if I can tell the difference. - Peregrine Fisher 19:40, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- I, E.T. is the second episode, but was held back until the end of the first half of the first season (Sci Fi used to do split seasons on all their shows) apparently because Sci Fi thought it wasn't exciting/different enough. It was aired after PK Teck Girl, which is why I have a note on those episodes. Exodus from Genesis is the third episode. On all the DVD collections and when they show it in syndication, they now show I, E.T. after the premiere.RoyBatty42 19:58, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- I did the first 8 images. As far as finding more people, I don't know. I'll add images to the list of episodes page, that sometimes gets people excited and wanting to contribute. - Peregrine Fisher 20:22, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- I put notices on the talk pages of the past contributors to the main List article. Wish I could remember the website that had a very comprehensive list of episode pop culture references and other trivia. RoyBatty42 20:29, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- I've caught up with images. I haven't watched the show, so I haven't done very many of the image captions. You may want to fix that, although it's not a big deal. One tip, it's standard to put an asterisk (*) before each external link; it creates little bullets. - Peregrine Fisher 21:15, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- If you don't watch the show, where do you get the images from? Are there alternatives? I do know about the (*) to bullet thing, just gets missed sometimes.
- I would ask that you not delete things without comment. I spent 45 minutes last night researching the use of quotes in other TV episode articles and based my use of them on that, trying to find the right layout. It's a little frustrating to have effort like that removed with no discussion. RoyBatty42 23:34, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- I have the show, I just haven't watched it yet. Someday I plan on watching it. Sorry about the quotes. People here will remove quotes sections from TV episode pages, so I moved the quotes from Rhapsody in Blue (Farscape episode) to wikiquote, where they're OK. There's a link at the bottom right of the Rhapsody in Blue page. This way the quotes aren't eventually lost. Anyways, keep up the good work. I'll keep on the screenshots. - Peregrine Fisher 04:06, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well, just remember that the first season is kinda slow, especially the first half. But once you get to Durka Returns, things start to take off. Damn, kinda hard to make a request I had seeing that you haven't seen the show - I was going to ask that you try to get more effects screen shots when you can and character/alien shots when its more appropriate. But if you haven't seen the show it would be hard for you to judge. So far, however, the shots you have used have been great (although for Through the Looking Glass the shot of Moya split into 4 would have been better) RoyBatty42 21:16, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'll do the screenshots now. - Peregrine Fisher 20:35, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- I did the first 16. I can't find the rest right now, but I'll find them and put them up in the next few days. - Peregrine Fisher 21:55, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'll do the screenshots now. - Peregrine Fisher 20:35, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Re:Prodigy
Please do not take my edit personally, I did not want to use "prodigy" because I thought it was much more subjective than "stars". However, I understand your concerns with my choice of wording so I will change it to "actors".- Moshe Constantine Hassan Al-Silverburg | Talk 23:00, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- I understand that but referring to them as prodigies is equally illogical and has the added disadvantage of sounding like a promotion.- Moshe Constantine Hassan Al-Silverburg | Talk 01:17, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Gay Talese
I appreciated the work you did on the Gay Talese article, but you didn't provide sources for any of the information you added, which is necessary. --DavidShankBone 21:13, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
